do you think the site should have a verification system

To be honest Ian, you and Dawnie have pretty much verified that you both are who you say you are via your status, just like most people attending a munch or social have done likewise to others present.

But this highlights one of the major problems I have with verification.
Due to lack of childcare, we can often be found out separately at munches, socials, parties, clubs (I wish she would go shopping on her own lol ).
Going on the previous comments in this thread, if I ever turned up at an event without Dawnie, then I would be branded a cheating, lying single bloke pretending to be a couple.
Ian
Looks like we're in the same boat then :lol2:
Don't worry Steve, if needed I can verify you under 2 accounts and so can Ian, plus Shireen. You can have 5 ticks before you even think about being genuine or not :lol2:
Someone like myself has met 100's of people at socials over the years, many other members will have also met tons and tons of people.
What I want to know is............if someone have been verified 657 times, would that make you think about meeting a person(s) more OR less dunno
I find myself really unsure here as to if the person is friendly or shags anything that moves. I really don't know if I fancy risking being number 658?

Come in number 657 your time is up.
I've been on several sites that have verification and frankly part from giving people another outlet for their own views they tend to give you a false sense of security. The number of times I have encountered timewasters who have been verified by several dozen different people is not funny.
I also know of people who actively go out soliciting verifications, but are a pain in the ass as far as organizing any kind of meet is concerned. So go ahead and have a verification system but don't expect it to solve any of the current problems.

I have to laugh at that ... but it's a good point!
Perhaps there is a deeper 'human rights' issue at work here unbeknownst to some of us. Perhaps that is what is being argued about, as opposed to the somewhat fantastic and imaginative ideas being put forward to win the arguments of either for or against verification. As it stands neither arguments are very convincing now.
Would one's human rights be compromised?
I signed into the site tonight and was taken to a vote on verification page?
A very sad day for SH

It won't work.
To do anything like this, the profile owner has to have control over what they display. I was also another member of a site that had a 'feedback system' I've seen it used to destroy the reputation of people as much as to enhance it.
I've seen forum threads on other sites that have said things along the lines of 'we love feedback because it lets us know who those people that have bareback pictures on their profiles have played with, so we don't go anywhere near them'
Who in there right mind is going to display 'feedback' that says they don't turn up? If they have no choice over what they display, I'll bet pounds to pennie's it will be used as a weapon to discredit folks.
What about those joining the site, who as yet havn't met anyone and therefore have no feedback? Are they to be ostracized? How would new members go about getting that all important first meet then?
As others have said the absolute best way of verifying someone is to be sure before you even think about meeting them to play that they are who they say they are, whether by cam, MSN, social meets or phone. If you don't get the opportunity to play that often, surely it's worth investing a bit of time in that, rather than relying on a flawed, meaningless system like feedback?

Yep makes sense
I would like to see a bit of clarification on question 5 before I cast a vote.>>>>>
"No, I would not like to see an Optional Verification System on the site".
There is no room for a mistake. Once you have voted you can not go back and change it.
We do not, at this time have a Verification System, so how the hell can we vote for an Optional one.

I absolutely agree with you.... and I noticed how there were 4 yes answers and 1 no,
I suppose if i was really really cynical I could suggest that would be one way of skewing the results...hmmmmm

Just been having a look at the poll on this thread, for a thread that has generated 20 plus pages of discussion only 127 bothered to vote, on a site of thousands and a subject that the people who have posted about feel strongly about. I'm disappointed after all should verification come in we will all be affected to some degree whether we choose to opt in/out. To me it suggests the vast majority of members couldn't care less about verification.
I hope admin will publish the results of their poll on the subject.
Does it really, really matter?
Apart from some of the friendships made here - nothing else really matters.
If the whole purpose of being on here hinges on a shag then yer a sad piece of existence I say.
If you're life revolves around whether someone is going to turn up to stick his prick in yer wife then you're even sadder.
If some of yer time is wasted then FFS just call it the downside of ya hobby.
What a load of bollocks!

Its a poll to see what people think, we hadn't even considered asking about a non optional verification as any system should be opt in, so it comes down to Yes or No, there are 3 Yes options, but one person voting no would equal 1 person voting to each yes option, there are 3 as there's different ways of doing things.
There's been a lot of assumptions made about how things would be done if this was in place, first thing from our end is do people want it, if enough do what form should it take.
Any further forward than that is pure speculation, but there's been some very good points made in this thread and its been a good one.

No.
We have seen this debate rage several times. This time the arguments have gotten into very imaginative areas, which could just possibly come about; but in exceptional and rare circumstances. Those imaginings seem to be far away from the everyday application of swinging.
I'd be happy to try a system. But it would not really hinder or help me.

Me neither, if it is random or just a snapshot of responses in a limited window of time, the results aren't going to be very meaningful confused
I won't use it if (when) it arrives though, I've seen it on other sites and it had a novelty factor for 5 mins but was relatively unimportant in the end. I don't feel any need to be deemed "suitable" to SH members by anyone and am happy to rely on my own judgement of who I do/don't want to meet!
Assuming that it does come though, the option to show the verification without the need to reveal who it came from publicly would be worth consideration. As long as the person receiving it knows who sent it, do other members need to? Unless people who want this also want to only play with people verified by people they know! (Hmm Royston Vasey springs to mind lol )
Okay, I've read some arguments for or against.
Many of the arguments against are on the simple basis "its not full proof and hence doesn't offer full or 100% protection", to which I say "Neither do condoms - but we still insist on them so we avoid being unfortunate during a meet".
So what are we saying? Yes to condoms THOUGHT they're not 100%, but NO to verification BECAUSE its not 100% ??
Verification - I'm for it: it may not be perfect, but it just does as well to cut out most of the numpties ;)

Thanks for the input St3v3.
Would it not have been easier for question 5 to be a simple "NO" instead of what appears to be, to me anyway, a loaded question.
Maybe its just me not trusting the wording of profesional business.

ps:- I see the questionair has been removed from my homepage.

Every time this subject comes up one of the reasons given for having a verification system is that "it works on the other sites I use" .....
So use those sites, what`s so difficult ??
I honestly don`t understand dunno

we couldn't agree more!!
verification system NO!
common sense and good judgement YES!
