do you think the site should have a verification system

Quote by staffcple
Do notchange SH, its still works, but real swingers like us will not be loging in, for the site admin's this will not be a problem they will still get their money, but for us it will not be a swinging site just a networking site.
so change the name to "SOCIAL HEAVEN"
sorry but thats how I feel

Yes, it does work, so why change it?
Would that be for the 'real' swingers, who it seems are that 'real' they want to rely on what other people think of their potential playmates rather than make up their own untainted opinions.
"This won't cause a two tier site" people have said, your post say's different doesn't it?
What will it be next? 'Real' swingers have the tick?
What will that make anyone who desn't have the tick?
Fake? Men pretending to be women or couples? Timewaster's?
I have no pictures, my profile contains enough information to inform folk's I'm not actually here to meet anyone for sexual purposes, it will never have this much vaunted green tick or show any feedback whatsoever. Does that make me fake, or a timewaster? People may see my post's or talk to me in a chatroom, but as soon as they look at my profile they know the score.
I have been a member of this site for over three years, as part of a couple I have met people, Now due to circumstances beyond my control, I am in a situation where I probably won't ever swing again.
Why should I leave the site because of that? I have made friends here, I enjoy the cut and thrust of the forums, I like a laugh occasionally in the chatroom.
Should I leave because I do not swing?
In all honesty, if 'real' swingers won't log in simply because people are not interested in rushing to verify themselves as 'genuine' people, then imho, the site will be better off without the 'real' swingers. I'm sure the rest of the fake's and timewasters will still meet, go to socials and munches and have lots of fun.
I dont see where Cossie said you should leave the site. This site has a wide range of people who are here for different things. I can see most of the forumites are against the verification/feeback system. But there are those out there who do want it and I think its good that admin are taking this on board,,,personally I think its coming anyway.
We mostly use this site for the chatrooms and forum and think its great for that but as for meeting people then we rarley bother anymore as for us we dont to chat to someone for weeks on end to try and meet, as I ahve said before we are a quick meet and have fun sort of couple.....maybe thats why the verification system works for us?
We dont use it to say " hey look at who we have shagged" on one site we dont show any of our feedback but it shows we have feeback.
So what are we saying? Yes to condoms THOUGH they're not 100%, but NO to verification BECAUSE its not 100% ??
i hardly think you can compare condoms, risk of hiv to verification???
but seeing as you have maybe you will think on that condoms are 98% reliable, i have seen verifications used else where and they are hardely 20% reliable.
the point youve raised hilights that as swingers hopefully we are aware of risks and take precautions against them, to me trusting a verification is riskier than the current system of trusting my gut instinct.
so i have a verification that says i dont use condoms but i dont have any stds? would any one risk sleeping with me without a condom?
the two cannot be compared.

Well, the risk/reward ratio seems a little more severe for condom use than verification.
Don't use a condom, risk AIDS.
Don't have verification, risk a disappointing evening.

I would like to see a bit of clarification on question 5 before I cast a vote.>>>>>
"No, I would not like to see an Optional Verification System on the site".
There is no room for a mistake. Once you have voted you can not go back and change it.
We do not, at this time have a Verification System, so how the hell can we vote for an Optional one.
medic_1

Its a poll to see what people think, we hadn't even considered asking about a non optional verification as any system should be opt in, so it comes down to Yes or No, there are 3 Yes options, but one person voting no would equal 1 person voting to each yes option, there are 3 as there's different ways of doing things.
There's been a lot of assumptions made about how things would be done if this was in place, first thing from our end is do people want it, if enough do what form should it take.
Any further forward than that is pure speculation, but there's been some very good points made in this thread and its been a good one.
Thanks for the input St3v3.
Would it not have been easier for question 5 to be a simple "NO" instead of what appears to be, to me anyway, a loaded question.
Maybe its just me not trusting the wording of profesional business.
medic_1
ps:- I see the questionair has been removed from my homepage.
I think that people should have been directed to this thread and "public" poll for the vote.
But I suppose that as the vote on here is currently a no ......that wouldn`t serve the right purpose !
On the homepage vote people are not encouraged to listen to the other point of view.
If people vote without thinking, then the vote will almost certainly be in favour of a verification system.
As we are on the subject of options, could we have a chatroom server that`s only accessible to those who are verified lol Then the rest of us could continue to use our own judgement rather than being nannied by the site.
This is just another case of the woolly minded yoghurt knitters being unable to take responsibilty for their own actions and wanting others to look after them !! rolleyes
Ere...........you taking my words?

Excuse me but how do you work that one out?
Check the poll and 46% to 53% is NOT most. There is now very little in it.
When this thread first started the no's far outweighed the yes's. But over time the poll has got a lot closer. I wonder why?
Maybe people have listened to the arguements both for and against, and the verification seems a better option, than it did when this thread first started.
There is obviously a need for one, based on the poll.

I worked that one out by looking at the results so far that day from the forumites that had voted.
Can you vote more than once or change you vote?
In edit: ive just looked and you and you cant vote more than once or change your vote
I have voted no, but would like to explain why after much thought and consideration.
I am not bothered either way really as we are not at this time meeting.
But I likened it to say the children’s act, yes it is there to safe guard our children, but if you relied on it to do so, we all know it does not protect our children we have responsibly to do it ourselves.
Would having a verification system be totally reliable?
I believe not, it could make people trust in it to be right, then in some cases those people might let down their normal guard and so get stung.
If they get stung who or what will be held accountable?
I believe we should rely on ourselves to make judgement not a system that can never be full proof.
So for the reasons above I have said no.

Phew !!! lol
I`m so glad that everybody took my comment in the spirit it was written !!!
I`ll be opting out of any verification system that is introduced and I`ll wander in vain through the interweb corridors looking for a site that sticks to the ideals of it`s founders.....but I`ll probably not find one with a forum or chatrooms as good as this one ....so the bottom line is .....
You`re stuck with me

Dammit - nearly worked! evil wink

Have we solved it yet......... rolleyes
Just my personal opinion but I don't want to be 'verified' or 'verify' anybody.
Without it? Nobody will think genuine people are genuine.
With it? Great for those who want to show off their 'swinger medals' but to me only YOU can verify for YOURSELF as only I can for me but not to put it up on the site like a status symbol.
I get guys on chat whispering who have you been with, what's their names, give me their email, give me their phone number etc etc, to me it's little better than that.
Times have changed I suppose, the pioneering early free SH site never entertained it now I guess folk are anxious to get their moneysworth.
I know there are those who let people down, those who are playing around but this site does work, people do find new friends, new sexual playmates and wonderful experiences.
I believe there is God too but I can't verify it lol

................the pioneering early free SH site never entertained it now I guess folk are anxious to get their moneysworth.

That completely sums it up for me!!
I couldn't put my finger on it but that is the difference ......... what was once a site for like minded people is now a "pay for" sex site.

Thats what were all trying to say all that time ago right !???
Next it will be marks out of ten for technique, followed closely by value for petrol money spent, and the escort ads to follow that .

If a system does come in it wouldn't be mandatory, we know from experience that most here like opt out options.
Also we are planning to have a few polls via members home pages to get feedback on any new features before we build them, that way we can focus on what the majority here would like to see in place cool

OK so I don't post here very often but I would like to add my thoughts to this thread.....
Firstly to Admin:  Thanks for allowing all of the members that use this site to participate in the vote.
It may come as a surprise to a few that post regularly in the forum but many users never come in here. I personally think that is why when the verification system has been discussed in the past it gets slated by a few members in here yet many many folks that use chat and photo ads would really appreciate a verification system.
For sure the system should be opt in and totally optional, but for those of us that prefer to arrange meets through ads and chat rather than munchs and meets arranged in the forums imho I think it would add another valuable dimension to site.
I would also add that amongst the friends I chat with and meet with it would appear that most are in favour of a verification system.

There is obviously a need for one, based on the poll.

Not in the slightest, all that highlights is that people have voted more than once maybe or that loads have been in, clicked yes, without reading the thread and remain blinkered
Well of course you would take that view, as you are one for NO verification. I see it differently to you.
Maybe just maybe, people have not voted more than once but.... have seen the arguements on both sides and then made a decision based on that, and have voted FOR verification.
Your reasons to the poll seen awfully one sided..your side.
Look at the poll and see it for what is is....that a high percentage WANT a verification system.
To be honest I think your above comment is what YOU would like to think the reasons are for the poll vote, but I think it is the complete opposite.
I've stayed out of this thread for my own reasons however, I do feel that I have a right NOT to be judged whether I am a genuine person who would like to 1) make friends on this site whether I play or not & 2) Have some sexy fun with people from this site if I want to.
Who has the right to comment if some one is genuine or not ffs? Every one is genuine here whether they want to play or not rolleyes
So I voted No Verification
This is getting too serious- IMHO
In edit- if I've got the wrong end of the stick here then sorry!! Have not tried reading the past 23 pages :giggle:

Hmmmm... I'm looking at the poll and seeing it for exactly what it is... an inaccurate view of what people are pushing to be what everyone wants.
It's only a high percentage of the 143 people who have voted on whether they would like a verification system though, it's not an accurate poll for the whole site, so to me that makes it fairly pointless. There are thousands of people who use the site for ads and chat, etc. and who never come into the forums. What about their vote? Surely it would make sense to have a profile questionnaire with a simple yes/no/don't care vote so that when everyone logged in they could vote accordingly. It would appear that it's going to happen regardless of any sort of vote, hence the mock ups have already been made with stars and all sorts. wink Thus making any sort of vote a bit on the pointless side. You wouldn't waste time making up examples of what the site will look like unless you were gonna change it anyway. This is a business, it's not a hobby for the people who run it. They provide a service, we pay (or in some cases don't pay) for it. If you don't like it then don't pay or leave. Do you really think that Admin are gonna miss the likes of 143 people in a site with 947,211 members? :undecided:
With that amount of members on this site, to be arguing the toss over percentages on a poll with 143 votes seems a bit of a waste of time twisting knickers.
Or is that just me? dunno

Yup... I can't remember the actual questions but they were fairly well worded with five yes questions and one sort of no question. wink
I can understand people coming into this thread and not wanting to read all 23 pages but....peoples comments are obviously based on not reading what has been written before.
It seems verification is coming, get used to it. If you do not want it, then it will no doubt be an optional thing. In other words you will NOT be forced to enter into it.
This site works well but can work better. All admin are trying to do is give people a choice. Not a forced choice, but a choice. Maybe admin feel that the site needs updating, and that any updating would be for the good of the whole site.
I for one praise admin for doing this, and their obvious intentions of trying to make the site more up to date.
I am a free non paying member and I get good value from this site. If I was a paying member I would maybe want a bit more for my money?
Of course one could argue that a tiny ammount of people have voted on this subject but...you can only ask the question and the answers can only come by the people who want to answer. We all know there is nowhere near the ammount of members that shows on the home page, I bet the site owners wish there was.
There is only two ways of asking members what they want. By either asking them to vote in the forums or, to send every member a message asking them for their thoughts. I do not think the second option is viable. So they can only do the first option, for which they have done. Does not matter how many people have voted, that is how any decision will be taken.

Sorry... I keep chopping up your posts. redface
But... Admin did ask every member. They put a questionnaire on all our profiles. Everyone who logged in presumably got the option to answer it so I'm not sure why you think it's not viable? dunno
The questions they asked were the problem rather than how to ask them. All of the questions (with only one tick choice allowed) were geared towards a verification system being in place and how would you like it to work.
That, in my opinion, should have been the questionnaire that came after the simple yes/no/don't care one! wink
Yep Dirtygirlie we got that vote in our home page and as we said voted yes to picture verification biggrin
