Yep, I know the ending. ".... it probably is" But I need help! I've been passed a website address for a clinic that claims to have a sure-fire way to give up smoking. I won't post a link on here, just in case, but does anyone know of the clinic I'm talking about? Or even better, does anyone know anyone who's been and succeeded in giving up smoking? (I can pass on the clinic name via PM, or if it's ok with the mods, post it in here)
They claim to have found a way that can stop anyone from smoking, that's drug free, pain free and
Less than 10% of people may need a top up session to cancel out any residual nicotine traces therefore we offer a free second treatment should you need it.
No Cravings
No Discomfort
No Weight Gain
Back-up & Support
You can now stop smoking without going through hell, no dreaded cravings, awful irritability or bad temper. Stop Smoking without any of the drawbacks.

Is this really too good to be true, or are all the testimonies on their site genuine? OK I know nobody can answer that particular question, but I'd love to hear if anyone knows someone who's been and had the success they claim....
I can't really afford to have the treatment if it doesn't work, but if it really does - I'll save a fortune on what I currently spend on my nicotine habit redface confused
And btw... wave biggrin hiya - haven't been around these here parts for a while surprisedops: lol
Nobody can make you give up an addiction unless you really want to biggrin and if you really want to you can do it all by yourself...........look into my eyes  repeat..I will not smoke............I will not smoke.............

Does your local PCT run a programme called 'Freshstart' in your area? they're doing it in mine.... and ...... I'm preparing to start next week  - bonus being, its free, not exactly drug free mind but worth a shot while i have this thought in my head that actually, i'd like to stop now
I'm not sure but from what you've posted it sounds like bio-reasonance therapy......if that's the case yes it does work in that it stops you cravings.......but it doesn't stop that habit (ie wanting to light up when you get in the car etc)........so you still really need to want to do it but if I'm right and you are talking about the same thing.......it is brilliant.........PM me if you want to know more........
PK on sheddys account cos I forgot I was on here and can't be bothered to copy and paste/log in and out etc...... lol
Hypnotherapy is statistically proven to be the most efective method of giving up smoking. But its far from fool proof. I seriously doubt that there is a foolproof method, as with any addiction the desire to quit has geuinely got to come from the quiter.
There is no 100% reliable method, believe me. I help people quit as part of my practise.
I would be interested in seeing this link though if you would be good enough to PM me with it.

For anyone thinking it's some fly-by-night rip-off merchant (which admittedly they could be), it's been tried by a Daily Telegraph reporter...
Daily Telegraph
This "bioresonance" therapy developed in Germany 25 years ago to combat allergies such as hayfever and conditions such as eczema.
The bioresonance therapy gets rid of cravings by reverting the body's frequency back to what it would have been if you were a non-smoker. In the past three years 10,000 people in Poland and Ireland have undergone the therapy.
The computer works out the electromagnetic pattern of the nicotine. It will invert the energy pattern of your addiction and that pattern will be sent through your body via the electrodes to cancel out the nicotine energy. The resonance of your body then becomes that of a non-smoker.
Walking home, at the point when I would normally light up a cigarette, I was happy to go without. Kicking off my sandals when I got home I looked down at my feet and they were black. My curiosity led me to sniff my shoes: they smelt of tobacco. Unbelievably, the nicotine seemed to be coming out of every pore in my body and I had a bath.
The following evening I had drinks with two friends who are heavy smokers, but still I was not came two of the most demanding weeks of my journalistic life to date: covering Live 8, and then the London bombings. I've been stressed, tired, and often in the company of chain-smoking journalists, but not once have I felt the urge to light up.

The clinic has also been featured on BBC News 24 (although I didn't find anything with a quick search of the BBC site) and Richard and Judy....
Shame if it expensive then.
Sounds as though a cost benefit analysis by the national health could make it worthwhile providing free.
.
Give them a try then and if it doesn't work as advertised, sue them.
All the best

angel, that sounds like a complete load of pseudo-scientific bollox to me. i STRONGLY suspect any positive results are placebo effects and it's all the power of suggestion. if you believe you are suffering no cravings strongly enough, you will suffer no cravings.
just googled it, and apparently bioresonance can cure cancer! erm . . . . no it bloody well can't! rolleyes

more info here on the News 24 thing

google martin keymer and bioresonance, it can do all sorts? confused
i've seen the results of other organisations that claim similiar things for their addiction therapies ((( non-smoking related ))) that will cost you several thousand pounds, and it was bullshit. end of the day, the only way to beat addiction is through strength of will. i reckon nicotine patches and the self-hypnosis CD i have upstairs will be just as successful, for much less money ((( i'll post you the CD, i got my patches for the princely sum of bugger all money! ;) ))) if you are determined to quit?
sorry if that was overly disparaging.
neil x x x ;)
I think it's bollocks
Sorry but thats about it rolleyes
Like someone said you have to want to do it for anything to work.
Angel, my parents both stopped after their GP gave them a course of pills. Will pm you with the name.
wave Angel
Good to see you back on the forum.
I don't know of the website, but I have a close friend who got a course of acupuncture (in The Trafford Centre of all places) and she hasn't smoked since.
So you never know, it may really be thatgood.
Hi Angel & welcome back.
My input into this thread will mean "SFA" to most.
I started smoking at the age of 14 and up untill 6 years ago was smoking more than 40 per day but come Xmass eve 2000 I went down with a dose of Flu and have not smoked, nor wanted to since.
Just get a dose of Flu, leave your fags and lighter downstairs, go to bed for a few days and Bobs your aunties brother.
Phredd  and good luck. xxx

XXXXXXXXX....get it from the doctor....it helped me stop....woooo hooooo
It gives you insomnia but you can always spend your nights on here.....it suppresses your appetite (I lost a dress size)....any bad points????????? eeeerrrrrrr...give me a moment to think..
I sent the name by PM rather than mention it on the forum. The effects you noticed won't be the same for everyone. Angel would need to consult her GP about those.
angel, been doing a bit more research. conclusion : i was right - it's bollox.
one of the manufacturers of these devices has profitability links and
Therapists always tell us that “they are again satisfied with their work!

i bloody well bet they are at that kinda money. confused wouldn't touch it with a bargepole!
as for zyban, lots of reasons not to take it, but ask your doctor. works very well for some, a nightmare they won't prescribe for others.
forgot to give you a kiss and a ((( hug ))) earlier too! ;)

God this is such a hard decision.... I really do want to give up smoking, but my previous attempts have all been complete failures. I've looked at loads of different websites today, here's one of them

and that's about the treatment I'm currently considering. What I keep thinking is, it's a complimentary therapy clinic. I know someone who runs a clinic in the Midlands and practices all kinds of therapies including NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), PNI (Psychoneuroimmunology) and Eriksonian Hypnotherapy. Any or all of the above could be seen as her being some kind of "quack", but I know from personal experience that her techniques work.
So do I go with the general consensus that this is a pile of twaddle, or trust in the claim I read today of a 60 - 70% success rate as opposed to a 5 - 6% success rate with nicotine replacement therapy? dunno
I really think that for the sake of £290 and my future health etc that it may be well worth the risk confused
And Neil, I do see where you're coming from, but I don't think the fact that people are making money out of it makes it a con. kiss and (((hug))) to you as well lol
I know it sounds like a lot of money in one go but honestly after what you've said and my knowledge of this type of therapy I definately think you should have it done. All the clinics that I know of that do it offer a second treatment free of charge if you don't give up the first time, although most of the time this is due to not being able to get rid of the habit.
The same treatment is now used successfully for other addictions includine Heroin and Morphine.
If you're worried about how genuine the clinic themselves are arrange to go and have a consultation with them where they can explain the process to you in more depth and you can decide whether you feel comfortable with them and most of all trust them.
Whatever yopu decide, best of luck, I really hope it works for you.
lol
Hi,
Just a quick reply, no it's not too good to be true, and if it's an NLP trained hypnotherapist it almost certainly works, usually in one session that lasts maybe an hour. The therapy is based on the fact that nicotine is actually not that addictive, believe it or not, the chemical craving stops quite quickly, but it's the emotional need that underlies the habit which is addressed and dealt with. A session usually costs between £60 and £90, my bank manager was desperate to give up and the other day she called me over in the bank which a huge smile to say it worked, she feels she never smoked in her life. Def worth a try; I'm not a therapist yet myself but I recommend it. Good luck. I do have a vested interest by the way - I love kissing, so smokers are a no no for me!!

I was talking to a friend of mine who has had this bio-resonance therapy. It seems to be used for many reasons. She swears by it and her sisters who have also had it were cured of cancer. I don't know what to say but maybe anything is worth a try if you are really determined to change your life.
