Now that got your attention!
On a serious note, do the forum's lack a spark?
In a whisper today, I was told some fear the Forum's due to the domination in particular this Forum.
My advice, " Just because there's constant posts by regulars - bouncing off each other and enjoy the banter should not deter fellow members from posting - join in"
What's your thoughts?
Paddy
things are often taken in the wrong light as you cant see the posters facial expresion or hear the tone is being written in
always best to read twice at least ...... wink
Get in ere and join in! The more the merrier :-)
Tips - have a read of the threads that will help you settle in. Intoduce yourself if you can (not compuslary), members will welcome you tho :-)

if i am honest i am deterred from posting in some threads as each piece of type is analised and torn apart for an opinion that is an opinion that cannt or cannt be assed backing up with the approved media. or just for h9olding the opinion. the way i see things is normally from both sides but occasionally i see things in a black and white fashion and say so, why should i have to justify why i think such a thing and then let things get personal for having the opinion.
i now try to keep to the less controversial topics and the meets/socials, and i dont blame others for thinking a similar way
oops typo before that gets taken literally (take the 9 out of holding)
Sara,
I was of the same "mindset" - until I realised - Get in there and post, I'm having fun, I love the forums, infact some days I sway from the chat - you make friends here.
and to qoute Sarah:
Get in ere and join in! The more the merrier
Don't be put off by posters with thousands of posts to their name - that doesn't make them any superior.
You have a voice, a personality, why not express it here.

Spot on paddy ;)
Perhaps a new forum for newcomers - they can introduce themselves in their own safe little topic. Unless they want to jump straight in with the sharks biggrin
ffs <<<<<<<<<<<<<<Rubbing oot paddys ban :small-print: wink
What exactly would that be persay?
If you where marking the entrants exam papers, I reckon they'd all fail!
Why because of your periodic negative posts
But then, I have a voice too - you may not like it! - stop whinning - move on.

In your opening post, you asked for opinions. Staggerlee gave his and you told him to stop 'whinning' and move on!
That's maybe partly why people don't post confused

i belong to many but must admit my poor speling has had the mickey taken out of it on here which is new to me. other than that we are luving it.
it makes a good way of getting rid of the time when i am working away from home which i do ofton in the week.
Freckle,
I don't need to be reminded of my opening post, my aim is to encourage others to join the banter, simple isn't it?

Couldnt agree with you more there sara - plus it often seems once someone takes a dislike to something you say in here it then seems to be held against you for the duration, cant be doing with the bitching that comes around

Don't take any notice of the spelling polis Starlight and post away tae yir hearts content, ffs ah get the Micky taken oot of me aww the time and laugh it off, cos I'm the first tae laugh at maself.
The ability to laugh at ones self makes it easier to shrug off the ones that take life too seriously.
So batter in tae the forums and chat folks and have fun. lol

but also i would say that some get away with more of micky given because they know each other and have built up a repartee, often some dont know this and take things too far for micky taking. ie you wouldnt walk into a bar and instantly start taking the micky without getting your block knocked off, but go into the same bar a few weeks later after becoming regular then you get away with the same comment.
Perhaps people don't post because they don't have anything to say.
.... for instance the reason I am posting is to say that I don't have anything to say.
I do not subscribe to the idea that potential posters are either offended or somehow scared... scared of what? This is the internet at the end of the day and it is not real. I can understand anyone being reluctant to field a controversial line during a televised live episode of Question Time... but Swinging Heaven?
Fair play to them though - if they are a bit scared then don't be - and if they cannot be persuaded then they are probably like me and have nothing interesting to say anyway and should continue to live their lives under their shells.
.... right, back into the corner... where did I leave my moss.
I prefer to reply to forum posts rather than start my own but get stuck in is what I say, its only words after all and we all have a valid right to use it.
You do have to grow a bit of a thick skin sometimes i.e. brucies "fat jibe" threads, sometimes it winds me up a treat and other times I can bypass it.
p.s Staggerlee I could tell you were joking

We had one of those !!
It`s gone now .
Just to follow up on what Flower said. Its gone because all the newbies that posted there got ignored. There were endless amounts of "Hi Im new threads" with zero replies. It was pretty much the same as the rest of the site, single bloke no hope, couple if your lucky, single fem may strike gold and get 5 replies lol It was thought that the forum should be abolished and newbies post in here. It seems though that once you remove the specific forum newbies just join in rather thatn starting a "Hi" thread. I dont have a problem with how it is now and dont think we should go back.

Yeah, it was a shame. People bang on all the time about the forum not being welcoming and yet I could probably count on the fingers of one hand of those of us regulars who bothered to reply to those threads in the Newcomers forum.
Go figure. rolleyes
