not knowing that bt had a national problem i attempted to get online and couldnt.
so in my friday 'ive had a pint' wisdom i decided to uninstall my router and then reinstall....
only problem.....ive lost the cd to reinstall
so ive spent the last few hours running about trying to find someone on bt to help me reconnect.
has anyone else been offline all day cos of this?
please feel free to laugh at my ability to be crap.
i used to be when i was younger.
not really suprising.
youve also got to love the bt help line.......
'is the blue wire plugged in' yes
'is the ether cable plugged in' yes
'is the power cable plugged in' yes
'sorry ill have to pass you over to another department.'

You been talking to Dambuster by any chance????????
teckkies? together! lol
I'm with Bt and not had a problem
We are with bt and we went of line for a while today too (must be a n/w thing)
we did have a slight blip down here in sunny sussex earlier, but back on within minutes
Explains day I had at work as well, they use BT as ISP rolleyes
BT are proberbly the worst ISP in the country. A friend of mine had to wait 18 months to get broadband cause they needed so many customers before they would up date the exchange. What a way to run a business.
I told em where to get off after (this was some years ago) they wanted £400 as a deposit to put a phone line in. Thier excuse was that the last householder owed them money!
This is my 3rd house with Blueyonder and I just dont have any trouble... lol

And you call yourself a geek!!  :P
Seriously though, change ISP to something like blueyonder, or wanadoo seem to have a good deal on at the moment.

I have been with an ISP called PlusNet for 5 years - firstly as a dial up then for the last 3 years on broadband. Have virtually no trouble, and even though PlusNet, like nearly every other ISP (except NTL) use BT Lines, not off line hardly ever - even when BT is!!! They also gave me a free upgrade to 2meg!! And their technical support (24hrs) is very good, especially with non technical people like myself!
I don't know many people that actually use BT Broadband, but the few that I do know are not happy with it, and some have changed!!
Hope you are all sorted now!!!!
Catch You LateRon
I've been with BT for years. I was one of the first in my area to get Broadband five years ago and hardly ever get any problems at all. In fact, I can't remember the last time, so either I'm having a senior moment (that's like a blond moment, but without the hair! ) or they don't happen very often. I was offline a couple of times yesterday, but not for any great length, so they're fine for me.

signed up for bulldog broadband recently - then spent a weekend trying to get through to them before telling me their server was down due to exceptionally high response from new members !!

I have signed up 3 times to bulldog and had it cancelled 3 times due to BT not upgrading the exchange hope you didnt have as much bother as I did trying to get them to understand what I was saying mad
And I still dont have broadband
I couldn't get online very early this morning either.... had to go to work without my SH fix ( and had to have black coffee as I had no milk  )
All seems ok now though.

their telephone support is quite frankly crap.
and as i am supposed to be running at 8mb it is not as fast as bt was :x
i would not bother personally, have heard wannadoo and tiscalli are not bad, but no doubt there are horror stories on here about them too..
