The greatest radio show of all time returns to Radio 4 this evening at 6-30pm.
If you've never listened please tune in you'll be in for a treat. The antidote to panel games.
Humph and the boys will introduce you to the delights of Mornington Crescent, Sound Charades, Cheddar Gorge, Specialist film club and of course the pleasure that is the lovely Sammantha.
biggrin :D :D :D :D

Speaking about such things....Although I wasn't even born when they were first transmitted Radio7 is retransmitting The Goon Show and The Navy Lark amongst others.....
I take it no one has heard of them then.....?
Okay I'll bolt

My favourite is Hancock's half hour - it's brilliant
I LOVE all the re-runs of old radio comedy shows on BBC7 and the re-runs of newer radio comedy too. Television is so dull and predictable these days that I find myself listening to talk radio much more than ever before - that and playing more music.
Subterfuge and anarchy in such delightful forms which bring joy even after umpteen years.
lol
Bugger, missed it. My fave radio series, too.
I had a very entertaining evening at the Darlington Civic Theatre a few years ago when I was in the audience for the recording of two editions of the programme.

Hear it again via Internet Radio at the BBC website. An even bigger joy!

My ex-boyfriend introduced me to the joys of the comedy available on radio 4!
I often tune in.

 Of course. Thanks for the reminder, I was about to start scouring the listings looking for a repeat.
aaaaaw - the Navy Lark!!
marvelous stuff - mum was addicted on sundays and so i used to listen to the wonderful tones of the marvelous pertwee barker and phillips

It's also repeated on Radio 4 at the following Sunday.
Not everyones cup of tea but Danny Baker on BBC London week days 3-5 is mighty fine radio and well worth a lesson. Baker is a broadcasting god but much maligned, wrongly in my opinion. I listen on the 'listen again' option and now never miss a show. Also anything with Danny Kelly, his former side kick on, is usually a hoot.
I'm pretty addicted to Radio 4 comedy......and the quizzes. ISIHAC is a combination of both. Singing one song to the tune of another, Mornington Crescent, but best of all is Humph's introductions. He is the most unlikely comic genius
Its usually on when I'm on the way home from work and if I've listened to part of it, I'll sit in the car outside our house until the sketch is finished.
Can see hubby peering out the window, thinking whats the silly bint listening to now. rolleyes
One of my top comedians is Marcus Brigstocke. He's great on the Now Show and Giles Wemmbly-Hogg is hilarious. His world cup special over the summer was genius. rotflmao :rotflmao:
The other greatest Radio show ever is Just a Minute. I've been listening to that since I was a child.
Radio 4 has so many brilliant comedy programmes. It is compulosary listening at Keeno Towers when the wok goes on at 6-30pm
I still remember sitting in the car with the boyfriend of the moment, some Sunday afternoon in the 60's ,listening to Round the Horn and being agog with the gay innuendo, sex between two men being illegal at the time.I just couldn't believe what I was hearing when it got time for Jules and was very funny too of course.I now have all the episodes on the BBC radio collection would be great if they were repeated now,to a whole new generation who have never heard palm readings of Madame Osiris Gnomeclencher and the exerpts from films such as 'The Hasty Nose' with Dame Celia Molestrangler and aging Juvenile Binky anyone else remember hearing the original recordings in the 60's or can it be that I am the oldest Swinger in Town Yiiiiks!!!
