Hmm yes - I haven't had my question from the bottom of page 22 answered yet. It's the only one I've asked - honest!
After reading the announcement yesterday I didn't want to jump on either of the bandwagons. So, I've thought long and hard about my feelings and these is them:
Many of us treat SH Towers as a home from home. When things get bad we come and hide out here. When things are good we come here to share with our friends. It's been said before I know, but the people here are like an extended family. Because of this I'm finding the news hard to digest but, just like when one of the family grows and leaves home, SH has reached maturity and has become more than just the sum of it's members. It needs to move on so that we can move on with it.
I for one would like to wish the new owners a warm and hearty :welcome: just like I do to all newcomers. And just like any other newcomer I'll be giving them the benefit of the doubt until I get to know them better. As for this becoming a pay site, I've always thought that many of the timewasters in the ads and trolls in the forums would be put off if they had to stump up a nominal fee to join, but I understand that's a controversial view so let's agree to differ.
Now my thoughts about the BBD.....
I don't know the details of the contract, what the finacial settlement was, or whether Mark is jumping with joy or feeling a great sense of loss. What I do know is that without him and Helen the UK swinging scene would not be what it is today. They built SH Towers brick by brick and, regardless of who actually holds the keys, it will always have a Blue Plaque on the door carrying their names.
So...I for one will be staying around to see what good things are coming. If you're one of those who doesn't like it then I'm sure you can find the way out.
