Takeover Good or Bad

I do think the SH changing hands will be beneficial to the community
Im sitting on the fence and waiting.

Ben, Martin is right on this one sorry......... He runs a business to make money. His business has just bought SH......... it too will need to make money.
We have concerns about the changes this will make to the SH community, but Martin is at least listening.
We do not know what will happen yet, but it is wrong to judge just because SH is now part of a profit making concern. Lets see the changes then judge.

Edited to add that if setting up a successful forum such as SH is so easy why doesn't everybody do it?

Also - I'm not resistant to change, just bad ideas. In particular the commercialisation of communities.
PS - Note, I have no personal gripe with you. Nor am I tree-huggin anti-capitalist.I believe your ruin this site, even if you intend ot or not. Keep it 100% free and make no profit and you might have a chance. This site will fail because the cost of the improvements is the paying of your wages.

Well you've made your point. It is pretty obvious things will not be the same - none of the changes will be approved of by all. However, the overall proof of the pudding is in the eating. Most are prepared, in a pragmatic way, to see what the pudding tastes like. Then it is the time to make your personal judgement - everything else is prejudice!

The single most thing I miss about not having my 'tache any longer is that I can't still "taste" HLB in the mornings, or a for a couple of hours afterwards like when the flavour and essence used to hang around.

Will we still be able to do this, or must any pics be hosted on SH in future in order for people to see them?
We've never had a SH pics page and would prefer to keep it that way, but are not sure if you are going to allow outside links to such pages, as is the case at present?

Martin, if you like I can send you a list of URLs supporting this. I think you would call them mirror sites. These include some mirror sited, connecting the site to 'escorts'. This was I believe just an attempt to pull in visitors from google, but it is the kind of thing I wouldn't like on Swinging Heaven. It would be unnecessary and would change the atmosphere here.
I will post the URLs on a separate message. I am not sure if this is allowed, but if so they can be deleted.

I really believe that SH will never be the same again, that is inevitable. It was changing anyway as it became more popular as a "perving site" for disillusioned males (not wholly, or solely I should add). That is why the Photo ads section gets so much traffic.
How much it changes as a community is really down to the members, those on here now and on a regular basis.
So, if you don't take avoiding action or actually "drive", you're going to run over that fox and sit there watching it decompose.

well i have read all the posts on here and its took a hell of a long good others very bad and worried that the sh we love will be lost forever sad but the overriding fact of the matter is sh has new owners and wheather thats good or bad will ultimatly be down to the new owners and what they wish to do with the new owners aint stupid they know if they make a pigs ear implementing the new features that they want to put on here and then god forbid they start charging to use the site then the site will surely die and a cloned sh site will be new owners have clearly got a tough job ahead to keep the members of this wonderfull site happy but like so many others i am in no position to judge untill i see the changes to the site and then and only then can we have a genuine rant if the changes promised(free to all users) are put on the site. i wish the new owners all the best and i hope you make this site even better than it is today which is not going to be easy

Watermarking, at the moment when you upload your pictures it puts the site name on it. We will improve the way it works based on the following.

it would be prudent to read the subsequent pages in full.....we have all voiced our concerns in some way or other...or our support.....
the fact is "yes...we have a new owner"......weve argued.....sulked....ranted...raved.......in some cases i have been involved in this...
but martin especially has answered what he can and like the rest of us we can only wait and see what will happen as he has asked......
martin himself has made mistakes....but he has apologised for how they came about....cut the guy some slack and wait with the rest of us......
TBH if id have out up with the flack he has i might have been so pissed off id of made comments such as he has....were like a group of legal eagles who pick out any mistakes hes made in posting.......
i wouldnt be surprised if...once all this has settled he might save some money on having us fight his legal battles for him smile :)
so im afraid its a case of put up or shut up m8.....the site is still free....
