Ingrowing hairs

Evening all
Like many modern gentlemen I regularly shave downstairs as it seems it is the modern thing to do and several female companions have told me they prefer it like that.
However the last time I had a bit of a trim it resulted in a couple of ingrowing hairs. I did nothing different from usual - trim with the electric clippers first, a bit of shaving oil then gel, then shave the balls and shaft with a Mach 3.
Afterwards a bit of moisturiser.
Am I doing anything wrong, or has anyone got any advice for the future? (Or was it just bad luck!)
You need to exfoliate with a mitt every couple of days, should stop the ongrowers xx
I use an electric razor and I've never had that problem, but Kate's advice seems sound.
I'm no expert, but my understanding is that most ingrowing hairs are caused by shaving against the direction in which the hair is growing. If you shave with the hair, I've personally found less of a problem.
I wax, rather than shave, and ingrowns are more of a problem with waxing. Exfoliation is definitely key. I exfoliate every few days and then use "bush balm" (which I find a rather ironic name, since the balm is needed after removing the bush... dunno )
Carsons magic shaving powder. More gentle than hair removal creams. Never had a burn and no ingrowing hairs. It's fab, just remember to trim the hair before applying as it doesn't work so well on long hair.
It works for me.

I get waxed rather than shave and this can cause ingrown hairs. I've found the best thing to deal with this is Skin Doctors Ingrow Go.
It's an astringent and it gently peels away the top layer of skin so that the hair just pops out of its own accord.

Do you think it might work on my head? :bounce:
;)
I find a good scrat with a rough flannel in the shower deals with any possible ingrowths. But I'm a Northerner and we're tough. :giggle:

Ha ha - it's worth a try! lol
be careful about ingrowing hairs ... i left 1 to pop out on its own and it turned into an abscess ... after 3 days in hospital on a drip and an operation to drain it and 3 months of home visits and nurses visits over xmas and new year and beyond, i am now left with, what i call my bullet hole, as it likes like i was shot. try to tease the ingrowing hair out but exfoliating is the key
Personal thought - I prefer men to be au naturelle or trimmed rather than shaved. biggrin
