I sleep really badly most of the time and wondered whether you lot had any good tips or hints for helping you to sleep (sensible ones please lol)
My doctor wants me to take sleeping pills cos the problem has become so bad but I'd rather not resort to medication
That plan is already in operation lol
I don't sleep well either. Find it hard to sleep and harer to wake up on time because it took ages to sleep in the 1st place. Getting frustrated about not sleeping doesn't help either as you try too hard and the sheep just keep you awake jumping your head. One way i've found helped occationally when i worked night and found daytime sleeping hard, was counting backwords from 10,000 or any number long enough to stop your brain wandering and staying active. A warm Glass of milk used to help too with a splash of ground nutmeg to aid sweet dreams. The part I hate the most is when your really really tired and think to yourself you'll be out like a light, then you close tour eyes and they start flickering! Whats that all about? Am I the only one who gets this? I wouldn't want to rely on pills to get me to sleep though i did spend long enough relying on a Drink or Ten.
Hope You Sleep well and find the method you need.

I have found that you must stop your brain and thoughts from taking over whilst trying to get to sleep.
Only concentrate on one thing, do not let your thoughts waver.
I know only to well how difficult this is to do.
I repeat one word over and over again this usually send me to sleep.
The word is WIFE.
I've suffered terrible insomnia in the past and aside from the normal things, one thing that really helps me is a radio. I tune it to a talk station (5 Live works for me), not music and if the subject is one you're really interested in then change the station. I have it on very quietly - not so quiet I have to strain to hear it, but almost.
Then - and I guess this is the hard bit to explain - I try and empty my mind of everything until all that's there is the sound from the radio, and I try and hear it without actually listening to it so I'm aware of a sound but not aware of what they are saying. I find I usually drop off to sleep quite easily.
If you want to try this I wouldn't use a sleep function on a clock radio...when I do that I find I lie there thinking 'OMG if I'm not asleep in 20 mins the radio will be going off.' So I just leave it on all night.
This can be a bit of a pain if you aren't alone though so it probably isn't for everyone, but maybe it might help a little.
Will try and look through my books later for some rememdies .. lavender oil is supposed to put you to sleep (aids sleep) but I personally find the smell keeps me awake.
Another remedy I've been told about is to listen ......go to sleep etc and listen for the white noise .. so empty your mind of everything and listen to that noise that exists (really hard to explain) and that helps.
Otherwise can't really help .... I suffer terribly when Morbius isn't here and it's almost like I'm too scared to sleep (my paranoia) and so I can understand.
Thanx for the advice all
hopefully it will get sorted out soon - although I have had sleep problems for the last 4 yrs.
My mother swears by lavender but it's one of the smells that I really don't like!
My body is telling me I'm getting a cold so maybe I will get some sleep
Sore throat, hot flushes etc and if I get a coldsore then I'm definately off to bed with the lemsips lol
Ive suffered for years and look like a walking zombie most of the time. I have tried most things and only resort to sleeping tablets when I desperately need sleep.....zzzzzzzz
You have my symapthy, hope its resloved soon.

Insomnia. Pah.
What time is it?
Try cutting all caffine out of your diet for a week - no coffee, no tea, no cola. This may be very tough if you are as addicted as I was in my late teens.
It's a little known side-effect of caffine that it can cause sleeping problems, even if you are not drinking it late at night, and you never get a caffine buzz from drinking it.
Hmmmm, how about the classic cup of hot milk?
For somereason when i was younger if i cried, like when i got told of, i would sleep really well, so maybe you should just spend a good couple of hours crying :P
Or just do a 10 mile run in the morning and evening i am sure that will help you sleep.
Lavender, all that aromatherapy shit should work, although i aint sure not really into that sort of stuff
i've just remembered when i wa at boarding school i used to find it difficult sleeping, mainly coz i was abit of a tear away, but my uncle told me to get to sleep the best thing to do is to listen to your heart beat. Its weird and works wonders.
Stethescope??? either that or you sound like you may be about to have a heart attack??
na just lie back relax and listen.
Its alot louder than you thin esp if you are very relaxed and thers no other noise. Its quite peaceful too
