Of all the threads to inspire people with, you go and pick my least favourite lol
I demand you make it up to me by going and finding me a thread of substance or something side-splittingly funny kiss

I have just looked at todays posts and from First post Friday to present time only 15 people have posted. sad
.

Not aimed at you Phredd, just used your quote above to show a point, so please dont read this as a reply to your post, it is a reply the thread and possibly an answer for the low number of posts this weekend.
You have to take account that it is half term week, people are away on holiday, there have been munches taking place over the weekend and parties going on. So a lot of people who would normally post, have not been online to do it. The weather has suddenly improved (about time too) and people have been taking full advantage and getting out and about. So, I really dont think it has been a 'normal' weekend on here!
As for talking about old and new members, I think the important word is 'Member'. Who cares if that membership has been running for a week, a month or a couple of years? Its time to stop talking about what happened in the past and get on with making this place the place they want it to be. Yes, have a giggle about the past, and the odd bit of reminiscing, but dont keep harping on about it, move on! Why do a long, serious thread complaining that posts are no longer funny? Why put on a moaning thread, saying that you are sick of people moaning?
Personally, I am starting to think 'Put Up' or 'Shut Up' and sorry if that sounds a little harsh, but any site is only as good as the people who use it and we are luck enough to have some fantastic people on this site, newer and longer-standing members, young and old.
Why try to recreate the 'old' swinging heaven, why not carrying on building the New Swinging Heaven, afterall, we cant live in the past forever.
Some of us have been busy this weekend munching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wooooooooooohooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think HLB was trying to recreate the 'old' SH though, just show newer members some of the funnier/interesting threads.

We probably had people moaning then about how quiet it was, too. Only it wasn't harped on about because it was 'pre-takeover' and people didn't use the takeover as an opportunity to blame lack of posts on.

Absolutely right Phredd
but to add credence to your post of so few posters, you would need a comparison to a weekend in a previous year where all these factors also all coincided to show whether 15 posters is a high or low number.

I think last year people made an opportunity out of it, rather than moaning about it.
The specific instance I'm thinking of is Davej's MrDick challenge. He was going to attempt the challenge on the evening of the Notts Munch as he knew there'd be hardly anyone logged into the forum

Sweetheart, I would never have a go at you, you know that, and I am sorry if it sounded like I was only responding to your comments, it really wasnt meant that way kiss
I know that HLB isnt trying to recreate the old SH, she is doing her best to brighten/iven up the new SH, and in my view, she is doing a bloody good job at it!
Im not saying we didnt all the love the way the place used to be, we wouldnt all be here now if we didnt, but what I am trying to say is that perhaps things have evolved and we need to make the most of the site we have now, and try not to talk about the 'New' and 'Old' members and concentrate on the 'Members'.
Oh and another  for Phred.

She has, she's a mucky little woman
I remember about the time the 'takeover' happened, Bluexxx (remember her??!!) had in her signature 'It's *just* a website'....
The website is just that - the community is much more.

I don't know. The nice weather comes and some people can't wait for a little al fresco. rolleyes  :P
I seem to remember it going quiet in previous years around the summertime. It does it on a lot of forums as people go away, go out etc etc. Just the way things are.
As I said previously, there's an eb and flow to all sites. You get busy times and quiet times, it's just how forums are. I think the real test will be this winter, when people want to spend time indoors on the 'puter, rather than pinned up against a shed.
lol    I failed to notice that in her original reply I guess I'm just not used to reading the signs
As for the original question...................... Interest on the Wane?
Yes it is confused
Lost my ramblings (shame I hear u cry lmao)
So What that things aint like what they were? Clicky and comfy is what the forum was . I used the ads and the old mIRC chat and I thought that was bad! As a newbie all those years ago I remember what it was like trying to join in.
The site will never be what it was, but there is nowt to stop it being bigger and better than it ever was..cut the newbies some slack guys we were all there once...

You know the site was never what it was. Memory plays tricks.
I keep seeing things (here and elsewhere) about these 'old regulars' as if they are the answer to the $64 million question and comments that kind of imply things would be super-dooper 'if-only' they could come back.
But just a few things that some people should not forget...
They chose to leave!
Many wanted this place to fail - they made no secret of that.
There is nothing stopping them coming back - they obviously don't want to (for various reasons)
They spent the first I don't know how long recycling SH threads in there new home - so were pretty short on ideas themselves.
They have made a new home elsewhere and bloody cliquey it is too!
I recall the comments that some of them made at the time of leaving, about no new munches being organised on SH and the pressure tactics some were using to influence others.
Please be aware the above are generalised statements.
