If Iam chatting on MSN, then all else stop's, I feel it is only good manners, after all I wouldn't talk on the phone to someong then go and do something else and ask them to wait around till I come back, but that's just me.
We only add people we know, in fact rearly us it these days
I use msn every night, its the first point of contact between myself and BMW as he`s often away etc, if I have to go somewhere I tell him and then change my status, same applies to all the people I talk to but I wouldnt rush to sit by it just on the offchance the person I`d recently added might be on, thats what offline instant messages are for, or the e-mail facility, I think you just have a very touchy friend Kaz, sounds a bit clingy to me
i too sit in the chat room and on msn at the same time, holding 3 or 4 conversations as well as looking through a few sites at the same time, my status is generally sat as away on msn but the odd friend who knows will still send a message, sometimes am here sometimes am not.
depending on the conversation and i will come out of everywhere else to hold the msn conversation, but there is this demand when you give someone your msn so that you can keep in touch and chat to get to know each other a bit, that they assume you will chat immediately and only to them, its annoying and instead of getting to know them they usually end up blocked
I use msn as an extension of a chat room in a way... rather than use whispers I often catch up with friends there... nothing worse than putting wrong thing in room by mistake!!!
my best friend and I usually have a msn window open and we chat on and off - we watch a lot of same tv.. and discuss things...
I dont think that you need to be totally at someones beck n call just cos its instant...
Manners cost nothing ..Ignorance costs everything .
