Hi guyz & gals,
I know this is not swinging related but there is such a cross section of people here I thought you might be able to help and/or reassure me somewhat.
Went for a job interview today at our local crematorium, for the position of crematorium technician. (the first person who mentions working with stiffs gets a slap!! smackbottom ) The job inlvolves the meeting and the greeting of the mourners as well as the back-of-house stuff too..................!!
I applied for the job as it was so unusual and it def has the WOW factor and after 10 yrs of working in a call centre I wanted a total change of career.
Anyway the interview went well, I was in there for just over an hour with two people firing questions and scenarios at me. I answered all the questions, then there was a time for me to ask questions too, and we all seemed to laugh and joke. There was a lot of writing on thier part and lots of nodding heads etc
They told me that they are interviewing today and tomorrow as well and will let me know early next did say that they originally had 76 applications for the post and that I did well to be selected for the interview based on my app form. I don't know how many they are interviewing now tho.
Well I feel quite confident but dont want to build my hopes up too much, but can anyone tell me if there is a good way to tell if an interview went well or not!!
Cheers
xx
Simple answer NO
I've passed and failed many interviews over the years and I have never worked out which jobs I would be offered and which ones I wouldn't. Just down to patience and thew knowledge that if the don't pick you that it is their loss.
Should I say something about working with stiffs??
The other thing to remember is that regardless of how good you were their could be someone better. You can't control that.
Good luck I'm you've done ok
Let us know how you got on.
It doesn't sound like a dead end job redface
First of all tonmar, fingers crossed for you hunni. Hope it goes well.
I've given up telling how interviews go as I'm always wrong! The ones I think I've breezed through I've been turned down for and vice versa. The trouble is there are so many people applying these days that you really have to sell yourself that much harder at interviews to make yourself memorable ( bit like replying to ads on here really rolleyes )
I've got every admiration for you doing this hunni. I'm at the other end of this chain whereas I nurse people dying with cancer and have to deal with grieving relatives, try to offer support while their loved ones are still with them even if in body only. Some people admit they couldn't do my job and I sure as heck couldn't do yours so kudos to you, my friend
Of course none of us can say how your intereview went, but I'm keepng my fingers crossed for you kiss
It is a very worthwhile job and must be a strain at times, but the dedication required is absolute and for that I admire anyone who wants to do such a job.
When my mother died, the person who carried us through was a very young lad of 19 years old. He was one of the technicians and I have to say he was a remarkable lad. Caring, compasionate and more than helpful. He said he had been doing that job since he left school at 16
Very good luck to you and do let us know how you got on biggrin

Hi everyone,
Just to let you know that I got a phonecall earlier today and I wasn't not successful in my application
I was told that the interview had gone very well and they had been pleased with my answers etc. Out of the 11 people that had been interviewed I had come a very close 2nd.
The answers were scored and apparently there was only one point in it between me and the succeslful candidate, banghead
They have said that they will keep me in mind if things dont work out with this guy.
*sigh*...........all well never mind. :upset:
So after being made redundant I'm now well and truly on the job hunt...............*anyone got any jobs going*??
M xx
I'm sorry to hear you didn't get the job kiss
The good that has come from this though is you clearly have a very good interview technique so you can go to your next interview ( which could be for an even more exciting role) with your head held high.
I wish you all the luck in the world xx

I'm really sorry to hear this.
Out of 76 people you very narrowly missed out. I am sorry to hear you didn't get the job but there will be others, don't be too disheartened. Put it down to experience and know that you must be pretty damn good at interviews if it was that close. Good hunting.
kiss

I would want to know just how close I was, and what I actually missed out on, and use the answers/experience for the next time.
I'm a great believer in 'if it was meant to be, it would have happened'. I was made redundant a few years ago and after 6 months of nothing I decided to take a complete career change and went into nursing. Bets thing I've ever done but wouldn;t have done it if I was still in that old job.
You'll find the perfect job for you soon enough, my friend. Good luck
sounds like you have a burning ambition to work there.....
