I think I was born introvert and watching my children growing up they seem to be the same, I am at times able to break out of this and be the life and sole but at other times I cannot be arsed and I still feel shy. Is it nature or nurtured, what are you ? can this feeling be broken ?

I'm definitely maybe an introverted extrovert that occasionally flips into an extroverted introvert.
Unfortunately it sometimes means I end up with my head up my own arse
I'm terribly shy around new people.
Honest.
I'm an introvert

That would about sum me up too. Shy around new people but once I know them and I've taken a few cold drinks, I can be life and (are) sole of the party.
I'm usually an extrovert, but I like my me time cool
Thats a good one!
I dont think Im so much an extrovert...............more of an extrapervert:shock:
I think we all compensate one with the other don't you?...........
Ah, the big 'nature -v- nurture debate' I love it!
You are born with your nature there's nothing you can do about it's in your genes. It's possible to have bits of both parents nature and bits of grandparents etc.,
Nurture is more about how you are brought up your values and ethics.. I'm not sure about being introvert or extrovert, is this just what a child witnesses throught her/his upbringing?
I'm a very bubbly outgoing type of person, my daughter is exactly the same, this could be my inherited nature BUT she is also exhibiting traits of my husband his humour and mannerisms, people say 'she takes after her dad' well yes but biologically she is not his.
I think to answer your question Fry, it could be a bit of both, a child def silently watches parents and they tend to grow up similar if their childhood has been a good one they'll copy quite a bit, I think anyway xx
A long time ago parents were afraid to hold a snake, the child seeing the fear refused to hold it and backed away. When I took the snake and held it the child took the snake from me.
Like much in life we learn from those around us. We learn as we grow and meet new people. In short we change. There is part of us that is innate to us there is part that can change.

Ah, but are you a shy introvert looking at yourself or a shy extrovert interrogating the world?
