I've recently bought an Ipod and I want to add a load of previously ripped MP3's to it, i've had the displeasure of trying to use Itunes but its left me tearing out what little hair i have leftwith its clunky insistance on having playlists or trying to make you buy stuff from them evil
I've tried dragging files over to the Ipod but its having none of it, so it either needs to go to a specific place on my laptop or Ipod, or i'm doing something wrong. I could rip all my CD's into mp3's again using Itunes, but that would be a waste of time.
So, whats the best way to get previously ripped mp3's onto it? i've found lots of freeware and shareware that can do it, but i thought i'd ask the mighty, all knowing perverts of the SH forum as we seem to be better than Wiki and Google with geeky type things!
IthanQ wink
You don't have to use playlists, iTunes doesn't mandate them - just look at them as bookmarks in your browser, a shortcut to custom links.
And as for trying to make you buy stuff from them, well the iTunes store works well for most people but you don't have to use it so not sure what your problem is there.
Sorry I can't be more helpful but iTunes is an excellent app and does what it says on the tin.
I-tunes is an oversized bloated piece of drm crap try media monkey it's free easily synchs with your ipod and doesn't try to persuade you to buy anything
Try 'File/Add folder to library' and point it to the folder(s) where your MP3s are. That should import them to iTunes so you can sync them to the pod.
I'm with Staggers - Media Monkey is fantastic and pretty quick too.
iTunes sucks botty - and not in a good way!

 Recently transferred all my mp3 files to ITunes this way...
But he don't like I Tunes. lol
I think it is a great music media source.
They certainly do not force you to buy anything and as I have an I phone and two I pods, it certainly works to my advantage in this house.
I have two I pods...........because I can. wink
Mind you though I love the new slim I phone.
Its not that i hate Itunes, it's just that it seems to want to work with AAC files and theres a whole big page so i can buy new music, but no nice easy clicky button that does 'copy yer old music to yer Ipod' which would have made lots of sense....still, could be worse, it could have been made by Microsoft lol
Off to look at that Media Monkey software wink

yea there is just click on File and then Add files to library, find them on your drives and pull them into itunes, next time you plug in your ipod it should automatically update it with your tunes.
think someone said same further up, but have just got up and cant be arsed to go look!
