Cuids in manchester is charging me £75 as a single guy tonight, god 50 quid membership fee and 25 for the visit , god , we are known as a couple there, i am on business on my own, and no 75 pound, now thats greed, i understand charge guys more to put them off, dont agree but see why they do it,but i really dont think i can afford to go on my own anymore, any thoughts>>
Well you would only pay the £50 membership once
I'm sorry but I agree with the pricing - if u go as a single u r charged the same as other singles there - and vice versa for a couple!
You may be known there as a couple but you're going alone, so why shouldn't you pay the single guy rate?
Most clubs charge (re-charge) if a couple turns up as a single male.
What I disagree with is the different price/membership according to sex... its not really to cut down on single males as that could be done purely by vetting and having quotas.
Sadly as they are mainly "private members clubs" the sexual discrimination laws dont, i believe, kick in over the disparit prices.
i amnot saying i shouldn pay a single guy rate, i am saying they charge too much for guys, and the 50 quid is for one year membership only, couples are cheaper than guys also, ? wor kthat one out

We paid a couple`s membership at the local gym. I wasn`t expected to pay a single membership went I went alone.
I think the same could be applied in this case.

Still comes down to most couples wanting to meet other couples and not single guys. Clubs make it more expensive to allow for that, by putting membership out of the price range acceptable for most. It also means more revenue generated for them along the way. Would you want to go to a swingers club if it was full of single straight men?

Possibly, but you weren't going looking for sex there either. There are probably single men out there who are looking for sex and see swingers clubs as a sure fire way to get it without going to a prostitute. They also think that because they've paid they deserve a shag confused And no, I don't mean all single males, or anyone in particular for that matter.

No, but neither do I like the distinction between single richmen, and single men. Perhaps if this is such an issue, the clubs would be more prudent to think about pre-booking, and number limiting...but business never did leave much room for morality. lol
Venusxxx
Possibly yes Venus. There must definitely be other ways for them to reduce the number of single male attendees. By the way, the question about going to a club full of single straight men was aimed at carolseandevon (I wouldn't mind in the least  lol).

Can`t say the thought hadn`t crossed my mind
I`m more inclined to go to a club to enjoy a pre-arranged meet however!

Only been to one club, on one occasion, with a couple.

PLease forgive my naivity on this matter (im making my first visit to a club this weekend - with a friend) but are you saying that clubs want single guys but the members dont?
I have to admit that for our first visit we purposely chose couples night.

A lot of clubs like single guys because they are a big money earner - it is usually more for a single guy to get in than a couple so the club is getting more than twice as much per head. On the other hand a lot of couples are only interested in other couples or single fems. All in all this seems to complicate the scene rather a lot.

Clubs are businesses, not charities. They charge, generally, what the market will bear, within reason. Like it or not, couples are the bait to attract the single men in and therefore have a cheaper rate than singles. There will never be a shortage of single guys wanting to go through the door...supply and demand. If couples vote with their feet because of price rises, then the club will soon be in financial difficulties because I can't see many single guys going in, even at a cheap rate, if there are no couples in.
The club scene is couples driven. Many couples at clubs only want to play with other couples, some only going on couples-only sessions. Some couples want to play with the single men rather than couples and only go on mixed nights. Couples-only couples will not want to pay an increased fee to allow prices to drop for single guys...there's nothing in it for them and it would be impossible to charge the couples that look for singles more than other couples.
At the end of the day, you pay the price asked or go elsewhere, there are plenty of clubs about. Membership and entrance fee is still cheaper over a year than visiting massage parlours I would think.

I, too, admit to naivete in this matter; as I said, hubby and I have only been to a club once. It's just the impression I get from what I've been told, what I've read and what's been posted on here. As someone else pointed out, it's a case of 'supply and demand' and in most cases, clubs will charge more for single males. Couples have the upper hand so to speak, so what they want, influences the pricing scale.
You've said yourself that you've chosen to go on couples night, so I think you've already decided that you don't want to be surrounded by single males -YOU have decided that you don't want single males there confused, not the club, so it's logical to assume that other couples are of the same opinion (at least for a first visit).
You aren't being shot at, you've been given opinions (that you asked for) smile

Well, it's more than I'd pay to go anywhere solely on the offchance that there'd be folks there I might click with. But these things are relative, and if I was pulling in 100 grand a year or something maybe it wouldn't seem so much.
The reason the clubs charge less for couples ....and sometimes free for single ladies is just to encourage more ladies to join....think about it do you really want to go to a club and find a hundred single guys standing around and no women all because it's the same price for all !
What about normal clubs offering free drinks to females on ladies nights? I don't hear any single men complaining about that!
It's the same form of marketing is all.

I remember seeing some single guys on the BBC news a few years ago complaining about this. They actually tried to take a club to court, if I recall correctly.
I'm not sure what the outcome was.

Havn't you partly answered the question.
The clubs arn't just for a quick shag. The prices are to weed out those single guys that just want to go for screw and those that like to build up friends and relationships in a neutral venue.

I've got to ask, how does a high entrance fee weed out the single guys who are just looking for a quick shag? Are we assuming here that a richer single guy means a better class of single guy?
Personally I would have thought the more discerning single guy is going to be put off by paying £75 just to get to know people when he could hang about on here and do it for nothing. Where as the shallow 'fancy a shag' brigade are going to think "well it's cheaper than a prostitute" and still go along to try their luck.

How does that work then? As far as I can tell it weeds out those who are rich and want a quick shag, from those who aren`t rich and want a quick shag, thus keeping the numbers down.......the same applies to those who want to build up friendships.
