Chatroom connection problem !!dunno
I thought it was just my puter, but obviously not!! I too run with a lap top and as soon as I sign into the Chatroom I only have to be in the main room for a few mins and I lose my connection. How annoying is that ??
Any suggestions anybody ??

Hiya guys,
I have just logged in to the chatroom no problems - on the laptop. I will leave it running a few minutes.
Dan, your problems may be your nick name, it used to be if it was already registered by someone it would boot you and give gou a zzguest nickname? does that sound right.
I had this problem trying to use Kat in there, someone had already bagged it.
Magik - no idea I am afraid.I am sure a teccy person will arrive with an explanation.

This could be your ISP and nothing to do with the chatroom. Some ISP's don't see chatroom traffic as internet activity and think your connection is idle. If you're connection is idle for more than a certain length of time the ISP will disconnect you.
If you are on dial-up you might want to check your Internet Explorer settings too. IE also has a "disconnect if idle for more than?" option. If this is set to 5 minutes then after 4 minutes and 50 seconds in the chatroom type "bye bye" and prepare to reconnect.

Hi
Thanks for the suggestions they all make good sense. I am familiar with the settings and have played with them before. I do realise that there can often be quite a few people with the same name but this has never presented a problem before.
I will give the box a few tweeks and see what turns out at the end
Cheers Dan wink
Try downloading MIRC and accessing the room through that. I've hit similar problems and that sometimes works, just having the software on board helps it!
