Within life I see so many people that lack patience, both here and in the vanilla world both young and old alike.
Why are people so impatient as a lot of things in life do not happen overnight (Rome was not built in a day so the saying goes).
Is patience a virtue?
I don’t think you could class it as such, it is just something people have or haven’t but I do feel more lack patience than have the ability to wait.
What I have also found with some that a lack of patience leads to intolerant with others
I have always found the best things in life are worth waiting for.
I think one of the keys to happiness is to buy into the concept that life is a journey and it can take a while to get to the bits we think we will enjoy.
Whilst I am doing my journey I often find beautiful and joyful things that I wasn't expecting at all. Sometimes I arrive and find its not as nice as I anticipated.
As to why so many folk are in a rush to get somewhere else fast I know my issues were primarily because of my materialistic greed. I want it alll.....I want it allll... and I want it now. Doof doof doof. I kinda grew out of that I think.
I like the Buddhist veiwpoint. -----
Life is a series of changes, if you fight them they will still happen but you will suffer, even if only in mind.
If you try to force change, you will suffer again.
Go with the flow, but keep an eye out for opportunity and offers.
Also look out for dangers and avoidable delays.
In summary - Be patient but be aware.
After all life is what happens while you are waiting for that perfect moment - ignore it and you lose far more than you gain.
I think patience is linked to behaviour. All of the introverts I've ever come across are far more patient than the extroverts. Sitting back and waiting comes more naturally to them and they enjoy their own space and silence whereas extroverts tend to want most things either now or yesterday :P
OMG im now a bi curious cd lefty liberal lentil eating tree hugging buddhist shoe fetishist.

Everything?
I wished I possessed more of it but I'm getter better the older I get.....and my shortcomings in the patience department has nothing to do with materialism smile
Funny this ties into a post I just did :haha:
I really do think some things are best left to happen, the more i pushed to see my kids the further they got away from me.
When i relaxed and let things happen they did, it depends on the situation, some things require conserted direct action, like I want it and i want it now.
Others chill and it will happen and it will propbable be better for it.

True and true again. wink bolt
For someone recently labelled the slowest man in Swingendom, I am extremely impatient, in general.
When it comes to selecting swinging partners I always feel that patience delivers real dividends.

Thinking about this - I can be as patient as a saint if I have a definite thing to wait for - preferably a specific date. An unknown wait for an uncertain end makes me very unhappy - even being pregnant was driving me nuts since the timing and result couldn't be predicted properly.
But generally I'm patient enough - maybe too patient in some cases.
