I was Dave, but I've since found out that it was a cheap tankard and will very likely tarnish. I still havn't found out about the secret gang, but I'm gonna be looking at them S.H. pins closely at the next munch and if any of you lot have got one with a slightly deeper blue colour than mine then I'm gonna get mighty suspicious.

Surely the point is that the people having the piss ripped are very often not friends but people that the piss-takers have never spoken to before. I would be surprised if many of the piss-takers would do it IRL to a total stranger. I've seen you in the village Blue and you don't take the piss out of strangers but play within your own group. There is nothing wrong with mutual piss-taking, it's the one-sided thing that is not nice to view.
Sharing a joke on the forums is ok if you are doing it with people that want to be involved but why does it have to be a rite of passage for a newbie? Why is the ugliness and humiliation of some of the piss-taking not dealt out to more seasoned members? I see many parallels to a school playground rather than a local pub in the behaviour of some people on here.

Sorry, got to respond to this....I DID NOT have a rite of passage / baptism of fire, but then I DID NOT join the forum and straight away start stomping around like some sort of Bertie Big Bollocks, expecting women to throw themselves at me and men to bow down to my superior knowledge ( gross over-simplification, but I am sure the idea rings bells for every regular here ).
What I ACTUALLY did, was sign up, have a look around, find some subjects I could give my opinion on, and, in this manner, took a couple of weeks to reach 100 posts, got accepted, started taking the piss a bit, got noticed, and a few weeks later, I got my first major piss take - and loved every letter. I had arrived!
The point is, if you come here, take your time, be respectful, and choose your moments, you will become one of us - a regular. If you charge in like a bull in a china shop - then you best expect more than a few matadors to leap out of the woodwork. Also ( while I cannot think of specific examples ATMIT ) some have done this, yet wised up quick enough to show some respect, and they are given enough of a ( very cautious ) second chance to prove themselves.
No-one on this site goes out of their way to destroy someone maliciously for no good reason at all - if you look ( not too closely, either ) you can find a reason for a newbie's piss-take. We've all been newbies, we've all taken the red pill or the blue pill - and this site is better and stronger for what happens to those that make the wrong choice.
I'm off for a fag and a brew - so it's your turn now.
Sorry northwest-cpl, but I have to disagree that its a rite of passage for a newbie. OK, so we are REALLY new, but so far we have not been harassed, had the piss taken from or insulted.....if anything we have been ignored as newbies - but thats cool.

But people doknow people here...as has been mentioned earlier in this thread the social side to swinging is embodied by Munches and social meets ( both of which are "strictly vanilla" ) - and I have deleted other swinging sites from my favourites list because they have no social side.
Newbies of course are not known here individually, but by type, ie, the brash, impatient one ( Bertie Big Bollocks ), the respectful one, the shy one, the keen, cautious one, the cheeky one, etc, etc at the end of the day only one gets the piss ripped out of them, can you guess which? That's right, the common or garden gobshite, that thinks the world owes him respect and a shag. Sometimes the cheeky one gets caught - until he rethinks his stratagy and backs off a bit, and starts again.
You will notice that I used male pro-nouns ( Bev, is that right? ), and that is quite deliberate, because I do not recall ( in my short time here ) any women putting herself into that position, is it possible because they do not go through life thinking they have something to prove?
