Just got back fro Canada, went primarily for a couple of days skiing and boarding with some shopping and socialising thrown in.
unfortunatley for me the weather turned, with our preffered destination hit by 6 - 10 inches of snow in 6 hours we tried to switch to a resort i had not heard of before - whistler.
flight was booked, about to check in, only for the flight to be cancelled due to heavy snow and zero visability..
so had to make do with taking in an ice hockey game, the CN tower a tour of the rogers stadium and a helicopter flight over niagra.
well that was my last 5 days - what you guys and girls been up to ??
My brother was in Vancouver recently when it was -54 ~ said his toothpaste froze in the tube walking from the arrivals lounge to his taxi!
cool 8-)
Niagara, when it is frozen, with the surrounding trees and foliage covered in frosty ice is a sight to behold.

no first time in canada, so had never heard of whistler !!
Whistler is amazing.
So you were in Toronto?
When were you there because i just got back from filming there last friday.
Winnepeg got hammered with snow.
Gorgeous country though.
i arrived on the 16th left on the 21st.
did go to ontario, and luckily got out before the blizzard.
i guess toronto misses the main onslaught of winter due to the mini eco climate around lake ontario.
although one day with the windchill it was -8, that was when i was in niagra. had lunch in the penthouse dining rooms, 27 floors above niagra, awesome view.
was a little dissapointed as i did not realize when booking it was close season, but a very nice place all the same.
but at a pint and for a whiskey - toronto is not for anyone watching their pennies
I just had a surprise weekend in aviemore biggrin but could have done with some of your snow there was only snow on the cairngorms didnt even ned my gloves  but had a wonderful time just the same hump

I don't think it gets that cold in Vancouver. That's northern territory weather. Vancouver is famous for having the best climate in Canada. I think he was having you on. Might have been zero-ish.

Just to assure you for the future, you did hit freak weather. They don't normally get storms like that until Jan/Feb.
Also if you look at Toronto on a globe, you'll see that part of the country sits in line with the top of California, thus the slightly better weather....usually. In a normal year, Torontonians are still sitting in their deck chairs in Nov, while the prairies are digging out their cars.
Not to put anyone else off, if your drinks cost that much, you were drinking in the most expensive places in the area. Sort of like prices in the Ritz and the Hilton in London.
Glad you had a fun visit anyway. Makes you realise how nice it is here, doesn't it?

it was a fun place - even the zanzibar club where the women are so bored they will dance for you for free !!
i can assure you i was not drinking in the posh places, but all over. although i was told to go downtown as it was a little cheaper, but the devils advocate, and elephant and castle plus some irish bar were so lively i was going nowhere !!
def going back early next year to take a look at this whistler resort, it sounded just what i was looking for.
Ahh yes. The curse of the Canadian Theme pub. They are pricey over there.
They have to import the kegs.
