Well I’ve been "done".
The procedure was a bit of an anticlimax, nothing to it really.
The appointment was for am. I arrived about 10 minutes early and was seen virtually bang on am. The NHS is really getting good - Brand new hospital as well.
Signed my life away on a consent form and the consultant then explained what he was going to do. It seems I am lucky and may not need the other two procedures depending on the results of the tests.
So after administering the anaesthetic (which bloody hurt) I was left holding a gauze pad for about 5 minutes while he waited for it to take effect. In the meantime the consultant was explaining to the Student Nurse (very pretty) what the differences were between mine and the others they’d treated that morning.
There’s me expecting lots of blood and guts and other such pleasant things. Anyhow, the consultant gets this thing that looks a bit like a scalpel, except it has a longish needle at the end. He brings it close to my skin and sparks start flying out the end  . Bella Lagosi eat your heart out!
For about five minutes he’s working away, sparks flying (well crackling away) and all I can smell is burning protein - yuk.
He then says, "That’s it, you’re done. Off you go. It’ll scab over and take up to a month to heal. You can wash normally but dab it dry and don’t knock the scab off it."
So here I am, somewhat disfigured, but feeling full of beans. Well bugger it, I was hoping of the sympathy thing for weeks
So I’m back but I’ll be taking it easy for the rest of the day.
