Hope they all had a great day!
Lostie.......she got wed today!

it won't last...i give it a month!
I'm sure Jack will make sure it lasts... sceptical? moi? nope.
If this was a true romance, sorry but I'll be honest if it were me and I was dying, I'd be off somewhere private to marry the man I loved with only my children and close family present.

It could be but NO one will ever know
They got married, It didn't seem like a Katie & Peter affair to me and I wish them a happy marriage till death do them part
Jade is not really the private type of person and that's not a dig at her, Why should her wedding be any different?

I'm under no illusion she doesn't love him, she always has. I do wonder about his intentions but like you say, no one will ever know, but I was just saying, as I've the right to do so, if it were me and I was dying I'd want to keep it special and not for the public eye.
But that's me and I'm not Jade, thankfully.
Did anyone see the wedding on 'Living'?
I was hoping to be corrected about the film title so that I could deliver the really bad taste punch line.
Another 55 million people died yesterday by the way. I was reminded of the millions of children in Africa with HIV/AIDS by a splendid play on one of the odd cable channels. That led me to think of the million or two who finally died of starvation or lack of drinking water. Neither of those made me smile strangely.
Do you think that's because these millions aren't in the media every day or is it because I am unlikely to die of their conditions?

I'm a little confused... I don't know the statistics of deaths round the world on a daily basis but I do know that Jade Goody is not dead!
I also know that it's not appropriate to make jokes about people who are dying never mind talk about them as though they are already dead. rolleyes
There's a time and a place. I've not quite figured out when that is, but neither it would seem have you!
Edited so as not to cause offence.

DG, I'm not sure anyone should be immune from humour. Humour is often how we make sense of the world, and come to terms with the darker, scarier bits of what it means to be human. I wouldn't post anything from Sickipedia on her MySpace page, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure I agree at all with your suggestion that she is somehow now beyond parody. Would it be any more or less approriate to wait until she's dead? Not sure. I say that as someone who watched his 36 year old father die from cancer at the tender age of 9, not that that's in any way relevant to this particular discussion. I did chuckle at both Ben's and Mr_Powers' one liners. Not sure what that says about me, if anything? confused

Indeed... and whilst I agree that people deal with things differently I just don't get that kind of humour. It's not about her personally, I have no feelings either way other than as I've said, a feeling of sadness for what she is going through and for her family but that extends to everyone suffering the same or similar illness.
For me it's the same for all the tragedies that occur and the person is barely cold and people are taking the piss. It was the same for Princess Diana and 9/11... the two examples when I received crap jokes about via text. I just find it in poor taste and wouldn't repeat them. Perhaps it's just me though, and maybe that's a whole new thread! wink
As I initmated earlier... if you can't say nothing nice, then perhaps say nothing at all?! dunno
Tea and cake anyone?

I would like to as my two penn'orth to this thread.
Rightly or wrongly Jade came to the publics attention via Reality has already been said this is irrelevant with regard to her current situation.
All that needs to be said is she is raising money for her childrens future in the only way she knows!
I would say that this shouldn't be berated or criticised as who knows what we all would do in the same situation and should just think "there but for the grace of God". This is only a phrase and not an invitation for everyone to start going to church!! lol
Live and let live is a much maligned and overused phrase but I think its particularly apt on this occasion, and as others have stated its my opinion and I am entitled to it!!

well i hope she also gives a bit of her cash to the hospice that has been taking good care of her aswell.
I hope she does to, many work on charity and I always think use a little pay back a little never hurts but always helps.
It is just a way of thanks is how I see it and there to help the next person.

Whens the hard stuff coming out?
Mines a G and T!

Considers self told off. :uhoh: It probably is in bad taste to joke on a thread where others have already made their distaste for it plain, and I'd not wish to add to any offence caused. redface kiss

I just thought it was time to sprinkle a little fairy dust and general BIokey loving around... either that or put my cock in flower and kent's mouths to shut them the f**k up. Cake and quiche works better though :rascal:

I bet the size of her donation is very large to a cancer charity.
When Dad died last year, in the most horrible of ways, we donated a lot of his stuff to the hospice shop, and his furniture. Dad him self when alive , increased his donations to all the charitys he had direct debits with, and put plenty of cash in the boxes too.
Jane Tomlinson was a trooper and worked hard to increase cancer awareness and to put money the cancer charitys way.
Family and friends who have a close person die or not die as the case may be, seem to rise to the occassion and donate money and also donate their own time as well in the good work that these charitys do.
The Great North Run and other such events, seem to bear this out, as most runners are doing it on behalf of some charity or other.

I'm not telling you off you numpty! But I'll take your
People are totally entitled to their opinions, that's all I was giving. I'm not actually sure why I feel so strongly about it to be honest, it just makes my skin crawl a bit to see others rip the piss out of a situation that could be any one of us tomorrow. I'm guessing it wouldn't be funny then.
Now... where's the Blokey loving?! :rascal:
You bragging about the size of it again BIoke? Two mouths at once eh? That's quite a feat! lol Anyways, didn't you get told at school to avoid quiche eaters? Something not quite right about them apparently? dunno :P

Humour in the face of adversity between the actual people it is affecting I have done within my own personal suffering, I believe it is different treating humour as a way to pull you through a situation on a personal level, than to use it when you don’t know the person suffering.
I wrote a thread about this a while ago on my experience at the time.

Do you not think we should have this kind of media coverage of folk dying from malnutrition instead.
Perhaps we could have an OK /Living TV feeding station or a well built somewhere needed with the cash thats going to ensure poor old Jades kids get to go to school with rich kids who will probably despise them.
Of course I care that she's dying a horrible death just as I care about the other 55 million.
I simply dont understand why this persons death brings everybody out in waves of sympathy. For the record I didnt understand the Diana/ Mother Theresa/ nonsense either.
Real tragedy in my view involves suffering and death that is preventable.

Not all death is preventable but it is still a tragedy sorry ben I really cant understand that statement.

a lot of the coverage she had agreed to, shes getting paid a lot of money for her story by different papers and mags, and im not calling her for that if i knew i was going to die i'd want to provid for my children after i had gone as well, which i guess is whats shes doing, i don't agree with them taking pics with her or anyone eles without their agrement tho, thats just a invasion of your human rights i think, but thats something that will sadly never change

OK Minx I will elaborate.
I cant get upset about jade, Prince Charles first wife or the 9/11 people because their death and suffering has happened or is inevitible and is a tiny tiny proportion of what happens every day since.
I can get upset about millions of people dying or suffering every day from malnutrition and the lack of clean water, partly because that happens every day and partly because its a relatively simple thing to stop happening. Much easier than finding a cure for cancer, or catching terrorists and a darn sight less expensive.
I haven't followed the story because to be honest it doesn't interest me.
Her desire to live her life in the public eye, for no other reason than a desire for "celebrity" and money is beyond me, as is other people's interest in her.

What the fact that thousands were slaughtered, before their time, by people that are not human?
A statement that to be honest I and many others find offensive.
