I was hoping to be corrected about the film title so that I could deliver the really bad taste punch line.
Another 55 million people died yesterday by the way. I was reminded of the millions of children in Africa with HIV/AIDS by a splendid play on one of the odd cable channels. That led me to think of the million or two who finally died of starvation or lack of drinking water. Neither of those made me smile strangely.
Do you think that's because these millions aren't in the media every day or is it because I am unlikely to die of their conditions?
Tea and cake anyone?
Fish finger sandwich and a cuppa tea please.
 did i mention ketchup ?
Humour in the face of adversity between the actual people it is affecting I have done within my own personal suffering, I believe it is different treating humour as a way to pull you through a situation on a personal level, than to use it when you don’t know the person suffering.
I wrote a thread about this a while ago on my experience at the time.
Do you not think we should have this kind of media coverage of folk dying from malnutrition instead.
Perhaps we could have an OK /Living TV feeding station or a well built somewhere needed with the cash thats going to ensure poor old Jades kids get to go to school with rich kids who will probably despise them.
Of course I care that she's dying a horrible death just as I care about the other 55 million.
I simply dont understand why this persons death brings everybody out in waves of sympathy. For the record I didnt understand the Diana/ Mother Theresa/ nonsense either.
Real tragedy in my view involves suffering and death that is preventable.
OK Minx I will elaborate.
I cant get upset about jade, Prince Charles first wife or the 9/11 people because their death and suffering has happened or is inevitible and is a tiny tiny proportion of what happens every day since.
I can get upset about millions of people dying or suffering every day from malnutrition and the lack of clean water, partly because that happens every day and partly because its a relatively simple thing to stop happening. Much easier than finding a cure for cancer, or catching terrorists and a darn sight less expensive.
I haven't followed the story because to be honest it doesn't interest me.
Her desire to live her life in the public eye, for no other reason than a desire for "celebrity" and money is beyond me, as is other people's interest in her.
Ill try Bloke..............
........can we all shut up and let this human being die in peace. She will be dead soon you know and her children will have no mother.
