You aren't doing anything 'wrong' it's just that different people look for different things. The only bit of constructive advice I can offer is to suggest that you fill in your profile text with a little info about yourself and what you are seeking etc.
I am sure there will be others along who can give you some good advice.

You've made a start and looked for help in the forum, the people in here are generally friendly and full of advice, but Kiss is right, you need to put more info on your profile. We have found the chatrooms a great help too and it gives us the chance to check out others profiles and make contact if we like the look of it.

ditto the replies above - especially yr profile - get it filled in! no need for an essay but a little more about yrself - for ideas look at what the others have written and see wat u find interesting and then do summat siilar about yaself - but above all be 100% truthful
get yaself into the chatrooms as often as u r able and actually try chatting in them rather than being a bystander - join in - it doesnt matter wether or not yr funny or bright just so long as yr joining in the banter - ppl will notice and b4 u know it u'll feel right at home and others will feel right at home with u - then yr on a roll
most of all have fun
