I'd like some advice please.
Thinking of going away later in the yr in a lovely log cabin somewhere in Scotland, there will be 6 of us. I've never used dog kennel's before as i haven't needed to but haven't got anybody within the family who will look after my little doggy.
It's only for 4 night's but i'm worried he will be left and uncared for confused Yes, i'm a softie.
Any advice appreciated
smile
We always used to put our dogs into kennels - sometimes for a whole month - they would sulk a bit when we picked them up again and smell of some powder or other that their coats had been treated with but they were absolutely fine. We found good kennels by recommendation.
Our atttitude was a refusal to be limited in our activities by having dogs - not that we didnt love them to bits!
you are allowed to take dogs into Scotland you know lol
Can't help with kennels but i do put the cats in when i'm away for more than about 3 days. I found the one i used by recommendation. ask friends, family and work people who they use then go and have a look round the ones they suggest and see if they feel right. The ones that are usually fully booked or hard to get into are usually good as they are full because people keep coming back.

I know  but he's so lively and into everything i wouldn't want it to spoil anything for other's. He's only 16 months old now and into everything and i could just imaging him getting hold of the kids toys and wrecking them confused
There is a kennel close by so i will ring and go and see it

Family dog sitting is best but at a push I have used Kennels and have had no problems.
unless i had one recomended to me by someone i trust then i would turn up unannounced at one and ask to look around straight away, best way to see what its like i think smile

^^^^ as above a very good idea
Also try speaking to your local vets, my vet had a list of local kennels and helped steer me by what needs my dog had.
As a side note most kennels require that your dog needs to be up to date with all inoculations - the vet or kennel will tell you which ones if they don't specify this then I wouldn't use that kennel.
Never used them as we have always took the dog or left it with family but did look around a few just in case biggrin

Have you fished around for house sitters ?
You find the right people and it could work out only a tiny bit more expensive than kennels...
Have to be comfortable with somebody stayin in ya house tho !!
We stay in places on a regular basis ......you`d be amazed how much mess people leave !! I moved into to a house sitting job tonight and I`ve only just got the kitchen civilised !!! The dishwasher is on it`s second run !!!

OOO can you come and 'sit' in my house for a couple of days. I'm not going anywhere - I could just watch biggrin:D:D:D

I'd hire a bigger cabin, otherwise you're gonna be a bit cramped I'd say. wink
Our dogs usually come back smelly and relieved.
