I don't know if anyone saw this last night or not,

Personally I think it's asking for trouble, I would never ever have encouraged my daughter at the age of 11 to go for spray tans and have manicures, christ I could barely afford them myself.
I'm in total agreeance that girls like to be pampered but am I alone in thinking this mother was way over the top with her daughter??
Mother - "She's going to make me a fortune"
Think that one comment says it all. The mother seems happy to sell her childs innocence and childhood. mad

Yep my sentiments exactly, I wondered if anyone would pick up on that sentence, it borders cruelty imho. evil
I never watched it but read an article about it in the paper. The little girl is no longer a little girl which I think is very sad. My biggest concern would be that the mother is instilling in her that she has to be "beautiful" to suceed and make friends. My guess would be the little girl will need profesional help to deal with the issues that she will noboubt get before she hits 25.

I agree, she will be insecure and think the world will revolve around her looks and not what's inside.
these sort of beauty pageants are sooo wrong,i've said it before and i'll say it again...i find the thought of a 10 year old girl parading on a stage with enough make up to up stage a whore very disturbing,children should be allowed to act like children,god knows what the pyschological effects are for these young girls when they have out lived there usefulness in the pageant scene!....if there was one thing useful the PC brigade could do and that would be to ban these sort of events...thankfully these bad taste events don't happen in this country!
Ok so i might sound a little like my nan.........but the kids today are not kids long enough. Im 25 but was still playing dollies barbies etc at 10/11.

:thumbup: couldn't agree more, the mother should be sending her out on her bike and even scolding her for coming in with mud all up her jeans! That's a true 11 yr old for you, not checking her nails every 2 mins.
Rich and i had a similar sort of convo earlier today.
My daughter is a "young" 10 year old. Stats senior school in september. Much as I dont want her to grow up too quickly, there is an awful lot of pressure from other kids, television, girls mags etc.
Its knowing what sort of dividing line and boundaries to have. Yes, i let her wear a little make up for special occasions but no way at all can she have her belly button pierced,tattoos or her her dyed blonde until she is at least 16.
{remembers having similar sort of conversations with my mother when i was 13 lol }

Yes it's difficult Dee, I've had the same battle with my daughter for the past 2 years regarding the hair dying bit, I've won so far but for how much longer I don't know (she's 16 now). xx
