So yes, I have booked in for treatment. Not because I think I would look better, but because I am sick of leaveing my glasses somewhere or taking out a nice lady's eye with and kiss and the corner of my glasses.
So has anyone had treatment?
Travis
Choose your practisioner wisely.

How about sun glasses?
As Mrs Gu is in the 'trade' so to speak:-
Choose your surgeon very carefully and ensure you get personal recommendations from previous patients.
Depending on your prescription, you may still need 'reading' glasses after surgery.
If you're the 'sporty' type especially in 'high-impact' sports laser surgery is not recommended.
Hope that helps

They hide your eyes then and eyes say so much about a person so not quite the same but i guess needs must lol

ooo i got these contacts as well ... the only thing i am not allowed to do is go swimming without goggles on ... showers and baths etc are fine.
bonus is no glasses to lose and you can change them as your eyes change with age just like glasses without the added complications of surgery.
another bonus i find is (job related) peeling and chopping onions i now do not get stingy watery eyes when wearing the contacts ... bad thing is i have to wear specks for 2 days a month and i have now found that my eyes are extra sensitive to smoke and smells and they water at any irritation so for 2 days i ban myself from cooking
Sara I should I suppose rest my eyes and wear glasses but dont really. Worst i do when tired is rub them out ......... they arent sensitive but I now have problems with being not able to see very small print so had to pay for reading glasses lol
I had to have one of my eyes lasered to repair a hole in my retina. The bit I found worse is the lens they put in your eye to stop you from blinking. The laser itself was just like a dull ache in your eye.
when was the last time you had an eye exam hun with contacts you need at least one a year perhaps they are not the right strength .... or i may be talking bollox lol as i just remembered that my optician told me that contacts are not the same as glasses for reading small printed articals redface act dumb and blame the contacts and get someone else to strain their eyes reading it to you lol
I go all the time Sara and it was opticians who recommended reading glasses wink
my mum had laser eye surgery over 15 years ago and only on 1 eye ... the doc didnt want to do both just in case of infection or worse. she is now over 60 and if she had had the other eye done she would now need reading glasses, but as she only had 1 corrected she has 1 eye for distance and the other (not operated on) for close up reading etc. she said it was easy to adjust to the odd vision and has passed numerous eye exams for driving etc and as a bonus does not need glasses for anything other than sunglasses or swimming goggles .... my brother for his 21st had his eyes done and was rejected from the air force because he had eye surgery no matter that it has improved his vision ... if he had kept his glasses he would have got in . no matter if they had broke and he would have not been able to see!!!!! go figure

With you there, week knee moment for all guys in glasses! :smitten:
Thanks all
Yes I can do one eye and use one for close and the other for distance.
Yes I may need glasses for reading.
I am a bit fed-up with needing to carry and clean my glasses.
So I am looking forward to the treatment!

Just dont use Optimax in Birmingham.
nononononononononononononononononooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!! *screams like a girl and runs away*
I'd loved to have mine done - I do very tiny details work at times in front of a hot torch (that can damage your eyes). A lot of flameworkers like me have had it done and swear by it. Will have to save me pennies biggrin
Tho, my uncle had one done and he ended worse off than before! It made his worse. So he refused to have the other one done and ended up blind in both eyes. It was related to another disease - don't want to frighten anyone thinking about having it done.
I have had it done and wouldnt recommend ne1 else to have it done or go where I went.
I had it done around 10 years ago at Ultralase in Birmingham (they have clinics all over) - they were about the most expensive but had some high profile clients (sports personalities, tv presenters etc), and also a couple of my friends had theirs done there with no problems.
I had no problems at all - yes it was a bit scary, but both eyes done in 10 mins, and 24 hours later passed an eye test as fit to drive (mind you I was still very short sighted from the op - it takes a few days to settle down - I was amazed at how short sighted you can be and still drive legally!!).
As I have age related long sightedness and my eyes are still deteriorating, I knew all I was doing was buying some time. Because of this, gradually, I have had to start wearing readers for close work, but I'm still mostly glasses free.
In pure financial terms, I would have spent more on glasses or contacts in this time, but more importantly, as I still lead an active life, I have found that for playing sports, riding my motorbike (esp at night), etc, this op has been fantastic.
I would thoroughly recommend anyone with impaired vision to look into it (sic smile
