Really? Well, fancy that!
must be why all the mail we get is usually from people with location "unknown" and they are 'conveniently' from wakefield !! ......or from wherever the person/people is who they are mailing lol

But how do you know that they aren't? Maybe they are willing to travel?
Can't see why it's a problem really.
we know they arent when we ask basic questions about the area and they cant answer !!

Fair enough - still can't see why it matters if they're willing to travel, unless it's that they've lied to you I suppose.
why would they want to travel when our profile clearly states we are only looking for local people??

They might like what they see?
I'll confess here and now, I have a 'fake' postcode. It skews my actual location out by about three miles or so... I've put myself on the right side of the tracks for once in my life! lol
I've done it because I like to keep my identity in the 'real world' as secure as possible.
I also don't live in Nolaville <<<< I wish I did, mind! wink

Indeed.
D'you mean 'Unknown' isn't a big town where lots of swingers live?
we see loads that we like the look of - but because we prefer to meet local people (thats the reason why we put it on our profile), we dont mail them !
People put specific things on their profiles for a reason....so they dont get the opposite of what they are looking for.
Anyhow............the question wasnt about OUR profile it was merely an observation that nowadays there seems to be a hell of a lot with location "unknown" - but thanks for the comments (we did sorta figure the obvious in the first place)

in which case how local is "local".........
its all relative, and because we live on a small island in comparison to most I think our idea is sometimes skewed as well....
for example...... When I lived in new york, I use to take the shuttle to atlantic city, or to newark, or even to philadelphia a lot......it was to get there as it was to get to the tip of long island where the good beaches were....
for most people on the eastern seaboard that would be considered local...
distance between the cities... 95 miles.....
95 miles in the uk and a lot of people would freak.....
its because they got sat nav................ rolleyes
some people can be so pedantic i'm with you on this one wakey its helps if you know where peeps are even if it is a roughly calculated place same as it helps what peeps look like
Thanks whiplash .........glad someone understood what we were saying xxx

Same here. My real address is only about 4 miles from my SH postcode so no real hardship

Me too
Location was always something I considered to be important. I preferred those that are local. The reason was even if people are prepared to travel, distance is an extra obstacle - no way you can have a quickie or a off the cuff club meet if the object of my desire was 300 miles away lol.
"Location unknown" is worse than being 300 miles away. It's not like I would expect someone to be very specific about where they live, I understand people not wanting to be very specific (mine is close but not absolute) but having a rough idea is one step closer to a meet. "Location unknown" is a guaranteed no.
Just my 2p!
I can't even remember what my location is, I just tried making something up until it worked confused
I think I would like to know what Local meant though. I class it as being about an hours drive away but is that too far for some dunno
Thanks blue xxxxx well said
if we look at a profile n it says location unknown we stop looking n find some one that gives us a idea how far they r befor chatting,
we don t want to go miles to meet, n some times a guy a few miles away is handy gor a meet,so if they don t fill it in and give us a clue we will never meet them unless its at a social or club. cool
If you haven't heard it yet Unknown FM is a great house music station wink
I choose not to have my postcode showing on my profile, but other people can calculate their distance from me. I know it is far from accurate, but it gives an idea as to how 'local' we may be.
