I read them like anyother thread and majority of time understand why theyve been locked, some threads its a shame as a great discusion was going..
When I log in the first threads I read are the locked ones :lol2:
Yes, I'm a nosey git too..........I had a thread deleted on here after about 5 mins recently......... by the thought police!!!! Hope I don't get told off for saying that

and it gives us a nice topic at last.....
in stead of the stupid poll things
I think threads get locked mainly because they come off the topic, and result in an argument. Often instigated by outright offence and insult or under the disguise of debate but deliberately designed to generate a wind up.
Its is unfair to allow it to originate in the first place. This is something that posters should be sufficiently capable of avoiding. But unfortunately we all fall foul of temptation.
I think no thread needs to be locked as long as people stick to the subject and don't create or involve themselves in arguments which can veer towards breaking the aup.
So why does one suddenly become a problem debate when other similar debates can run without issue? It can seem like a fine line between keeping a topic open or locking it.
But most debates will come round again and some do work really well. Some have rolled off the list quite happily without incident, debated as much as was possible by the contributors and the 'mood' of the moment.
I suppose if a subject drifts so violently from what the thread is supposed to be about, or there are comments made which any reasonable person would class as offensive, then they are perfectly valid reasons for locking a thread.
Additionally, thread locks concerning ongoing court cases where the defendant is known, or any other topic concerning the personal security or reputation of someone also gives valid cause to locking a thread.
There are of course threads that are locked solely because the "locker" does not subscribe to the views that are espoused in the topic at hand, or perhaps that they lack the ability to see all sides of an argument.
In any event, whilst it may be annoying to have a thread pulled or locked - the only question that needs to be answered to justify it - is whether the "puller or locker" believed it was justified.
Whether in fact is was justified or not does not make a great deal of diffference. If it is matter that is thought to be of such great importance, then the author of the thread can start their own website where they are the creator of the rules.
Just my opinion - please feel free to delete it.
yerr but back to the ORIGINAL question...do peeps actively seek out locked threads cuz they nosy buggers like me...tis a simple question n yet its now seems to followin the lines of why a thread gets locked (mods involved n everything) I didnt mean this to turn into a debate on why threads get locked n why such n such-a-body's was locked,
it was a light hearted question at the end of a long boring night ending in me zipping round the forums, n finding my only fun in reading locked items from eon's ago. However i can now see how easily a simple thread can be turned into something it aint.
