Lost for words ....

This morning we were out and about when I bumped into a friend from a few years back (not too many though). Now people who know me know that although i'm shy and retiring and find it hard to utter a few words without feeling self conscious (not!). I'm not really usually stuck for words or feel dumbfounded.
Well today was a rare moment for me. I saw this freind and she had met up and married this quite ostensibly and for all immediate visual purposes normal pleasant guy. Well could I talk to him no. I felt altogether awkward and self comcious and words failed me.
Anyone else ever feel this way with people?
An unusually long post for me I know but I thought i'd try and see if I could do a little more wink

I am always like that Lost, unless I know someone really well, or feel comfortable enough, I get stuck for what to say........its not just you hun.
I am much better in a non face to face situation like the forum lol

Then I can blether on for England :lol:

It happens to everyone. You get a mental block and become unable to respond or perform as you are expected to.
Also, it can often have nothing to do with the circumstances and previous history. Just a raw difference in people.
So don't beat yourself up.

But yes I also find that sometimes, it doesn't matter how relaxed I am, how well I know the person, I just can't think of anything worth saying, and sometimes can't even think of anything which isn't worth saying (I know what I mean, even if no one else does) redface

sorry to drag it back on topic, but i'm all out of Lost references? confused

lost? was it because you realised that your relationship had fundamentally changed, maybe? :? you used to have a 1 on 1 thing with her, and now it's a 1 on 2 thing? it's bound to throw you, and there's bound to be a bit of testing the waters as far as establishing a new relationship on a different footing for all three of you? maybe they felt the same, and his'n'her's reaction to you might have fed into your reaction to them? :dunno: could have been awkward all round, and all three of you felt it? ;)
the guy's a stranger, and your relationship with her is made strange by his presence? renegotiating relationships is never easy? i'd say your reaction was perfectly natural. don't worry about it. ;)
