Which one is the best based on cost (free being good), user friendlyness, file compatibility with other software?
basically i want to build up a database of business contacts that i can set up and do mail merge mailouts based on selection criteria. just to possibly make things a little more complex, i use Entourage 2004 for general mail and Thunderbird for HTML, any suggestions?

Free - MS Office compatible, good database engine. for zilch you can't beat it.

I did think about Open Office as i had it on PC, couldn't see a data base bit anywhere so i discounted it- shall have another look

You may also want to look at NeoOffice for Mac, based on OpenOffice. Database not listed in features, but it's in there.

Or AddressDB for Mac.
