Well I'm not sure if this counts but I love Russell Watson.....and also Josh Groban (a fairly well-known American Singer).....
I like any music except CW, because I once heard a funny line jasper carrot did, and it kind of screwed up my perspective...comedians ruin all sorts for you. I do love late 60's to early 80's the best, but many and various artists even upto date stuff!
Magik-I've lauded Einaudi on here before: there are very few days when I don't play him. You mentioned 'I Giorni', which is wonderful, but 'Eden Roc', the second mainstream album is equally good but different. 'Le Onde' was the one that made his name and has beautiful melodies. He also did 'Stanze', not as well known, with the haunting melodies played on a harp: it's beautiful. Look out for the new one, it's a compilation but has a few new ones: heard a preview at weekend , the track played being a cover version of The Stones' 'Lady Jane'. It was so beautiful I had to stop car and listen.
Other lovely albums which people may not have heard include 'Requiem for a Friend' by Preisner, 'Farewell to Stromness' by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies-just a track really, but lovely, and, if you really want something very different, haunting and magical, try some Bulgarian Folk-seriously, it's wonderful, as is most Balkan music-Bisserov Sisters are a good start. There we are. 'nuff said'
