I remember us having a mass debate on "fave bands" well i dont know about you but i think ive found my fave album!....by LUDOVICO EINAUDI
called "I Giorni". :violin:
Now i realise i am only 26 and not really of the Classical type(well i wasn't anyway) but this italian composer is the greatest regarding melodic sounds and mood music!.. Its my Album of the moment.
Now i came into some stick when i said "coldplay" were the greatest flipa so should anyone disagree again then please be gentle!. Infact i reckon this is un-hatebale!. Dont say i never told you!.

Ooh and the 94th post... So close to the big one
Wait until you hear a little piece of Bendictine chant called Adoramus te Domini
Either that, or a bit of Sting's Desert Rose after a ********
MODERATOR'S EDIT... WE DO NOT ALLOW REFERENCES TO DRUGS.
Hxx wink
Arrrww looking at how many views this post has had without a reply im touched to see H making a reply., as always kiss . ya saved me some blushing cheeks H.
Looking at your signature heather id love to be smiling! but hey!.
As for the piece of music you mentioned, well youve out done me this time H. Is it vocal or just instrumental?.(and there was me thinking i was being high brow!) :haha:

Well I'm not sure if this counts but I love Russell Watson.....and also Josh Groban (a fairly well-known American Singer).....
I like any music except CW, because I once heard a funny line jasper carrot did, and it kind of screwed up my perspective...comedians ruin all sorts for you. I do love late 60's to early 80's the best, but many and various artists even upto date stuff!

well i did read this a coupla times and actually think about posting, but thought i'd wait for other contributions first! hate to be the only other one in this thread! ;-)
but if it's mood and melody you want, then Gorecki's 3rd (sorrowful songs) or some Arvo Part maybe! Barber's Adagio for Strings (obviously! sadder than an unanswered post! ;-) and possibly a distant relative of mine who knows ) Bit of Philip Glass for the minimalists out there (if you pick carefully!!!) ;-)
don't pretend to know of much more than that! they're all very very good, but very very sad!
Magik-I've lauded Einaudi on here before: there are very few days when I don't play him. You mentioned 'I Giorni', which is wonderful, but 'Eden Roc', the second mainstream album is equally good but different. 'Le Onde' was the one that made his name and has beautiful melodies. He also did 'Stanze', not as well known, with the haunting melodies played on a harp: it's beautiful. Look out for the new one, it's a compilation but has a few new ones: heard a preview at weekend , the track played being a cover version of The Stones' 'Lady Jane'. It was so beautiful I had to stop car and listen.
Other lovely albums which people may not have heard include 'Requiem for a Friend' by Preisner, 'Farewell to Stromness' by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies-just a track really, but lovely, and, if you really want something very different, haunting and magical, try some Bulgarian Folk-seriously, it's wonderful, as is most Balkan music-Bisserov Sisters are a good start. There we are. 'nuff said'

Yes the one i think you are refering to is "echoes, the Einaudi collection" i bought it yesterday. I agree it is good however there is a few tracks on there which is already on "I Giorno" never the less it is a good album indeed.

Ok Carl Orf carmuna burrna (think that is how it is spelt) and also this makes me cry everytime I hear it adagio for strings, oh man I am wellling up again excuse me  redface ..............
Have a listen to the 1812 overture by Tchikovsky on surround sound systems WOW what a stunning piece of music.
A few more of my classical faves:-
Peer Gynt by Grieg
Swan Lake by Tchikovsky again
The Planets by Holst
Pomp and Circumstance by Elgar
Is it vocal or just instrumental?.(

A chant is vocal, Magik... wink
For further consideration, try some mild recreational herbs whilst listening to War of the Worlds by Justin Hayward played full blast on a pair of top of the range Bang and Olefson's.
