if you go into a person's profile you can click on " make a friend"
What does this do, do they get a message saying i have clicked on it maybe?

The best use of the friends button is when you are sending messages, you can click on new message in your 'Inbox' and rather than type in the user name, click on the drop down button which shows everyone in your friends list, just pick who you want and bobs your uncle (or your friend)

NO all confirmed I never got anything.
I have noticed though that it seems to store a users details in the my friends section even if the person erases the account. I have somone in my friends list but whenever I try to mail them the acct cant be found.

The 'make friends' button is an easy way of sticking people in your contact list for sending messages etc, and anyone who is in your 'friends' list has an extra little symbol in their profile (but this would only be visable to the person who has them on their friends list).
