Ironical as I post on here that someone influential in the 80's music scene is critically ill in hospital. As the nickname implies I am a very much lover of all sorts of music and it has always been my passion. Before I discovered myself I had music, and it is still so true today...regardless of what mood I am in, or whom I am with, it always helps me to feel the best.
Anyhow that seems enough for now...
Welcome, MWMFL.
What's up with Mr Almond??
And a welcome from me to you, Prince Charming lol
He was pillion passenger on a motorbike in London when it hit a car I believe. He is badly in hospital. I was not a great fan of his too be honest due to peer pressure, but afterwards I discovered his music was, well inspiring. I doubt many could say they have not heard his distintive voice.
Thanks for the prince charming quote. I always admired him too, and again peer pressure was against me saying so, along with culture club and many others. Guess it is good to look back and reflect where you should have been stronger?
ello music!
:welcome: to the site!

aaaaaaaaa tainted love
brings back so many memories
shame to hear about poor marc lets hope hes on the mend now
Thanks for the musical quote.....
What I liked best about adamant was he reinvented himself LONG before maddona came onto the scene.. Remember the video for 'Stand and Deliver'...?
Ant Music was always an innovation with the twin drums off sync...mind their has been SO MANY memorable groups to thank, and my all time fav list is endless. I just love Ian Dury too, for his music, his boldness and for what he did outside of the scene.
I have to admit to being an AdamAnt fan too - his videos were wonderful.
He went into acting for a while and he was good at that too.
I have seen a picture of him a couple of months back and he looks really terrible now - such a shame!
First of all welcome to this site !! :welcome: I,m a big fan of marc Almond i loved his version of " something,s gotten hold of my heart " with Gene pitney" i heard about the accident , lets hope he pulls through
Welcome to the forum MWMFL, and yes it is terrible news about Mr Almond. I just heard on the news that he has serious head injuries, lets hope he pulls through.
:welcome: mate good to have another muso onboard.

Anybody who's seen my music collection (or lack of one) will know that I aint really that clued up but..........surely the twin drums innovation was copied from Gary Glitter and the Glitterband from several years earlier??? dunno

More than several years Steve - but I think you're right there!
Hi and welcome
my 80's favs soft cell, Adam and the Ants, Culture Club, ABC and loads more I love the 80's!!!!!
I adore the 80's too, fab music back then, but i love all music really, its more a case of enjoying all songs and not necessarily one type of music. Ive never seen a more varied collection of CD's (and LP's lol) than my own, Billy Idol :inlove: , Adam Ant, Depeche Mode, Madonna, then i have people like Mamas and the Papas, Leo Sayer (sshhhhhh), Dolly Parton, then more modern stuff such as Limp Bizit, Linkin Park, Black Eyed Peas, Green Day etc.
Just love music :thrilled:

I had white wedding as the song our guests came into our reception to! Only problem was I let hubby choose the song we had our first dance to and he chose we've only just began by the Carpenters when everything else at our wedding was 80’s based!

Too true, and I was not saying it was his idea, it was the fact it was fixed to be just off sync like one leading a fraction of a second beforethe other to achieve the sound. I always find musical stuff to be purely fascinating because many people have many memories of it because it IS the first love of so many of us...?

Hi musicwasmyfirstlove,
I like the name (I believe that's a song by Jonathan Miles?) and the references to Elvis Costello.
I was a teenager throughout most of the eighties and bought a lot of records, including the singles Torch by Soft Cell and Stories Of Johnny from Marc Almond's later solo period. I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.
A lot of people at my school liked Adam And The Ants and I have most of their singles. Those were great videos!
I particularly like the Punk period of the late seventies and have many records from this era including Stiff Little Fingers, XRay Spex, The Rezillos and The Buzzcocks, to name a handful. Such energy in the music! I believe Adam Ant started in music and acting around this time and wasn't he in the Punk film Jubilee?
Anyway, welcome to the site and enjoy!
Hi Welcome to the site.
I am glad that some one else likes Marc Almond another one of the growing band of gay stars

But certainly lets hope Marc Almond recovers.........cos he certainly created some great music in his time.
Some of it isn't that easy to sing either...............one or other of us might have tried the odd song or two very occasionally.................lol :karaoke:

I love Billy Idol!!!!!!!

We went to his concert at Wembley Arena in the 80's, just after he had recovered from his motorbike crash. He was telling us and laughing at all the stories in the press about him alledgely turning to religion in his hour of need! His response?.....
