I`m not brilliant with these things, and have a brick I use very occassionally. Does anyone know what it means when I get a text but when I try to open it get the message `message cannot be displayed here?` Did someone from here send me the text? I`d reply, but I have no credit!

that sounds like a multi media message, a video clip or some such thing. Your phone is not capable for recieving/displaying it so you get that message. (You may get a web url attached where you can view it ) other than that I have no more info, thats all it has ever been for me so far
It's likely a picture, Venus, from a phone that is newer than or not comptible with yours.

I think you will find this is a premium rate text service and the reason you cannot open it is because you have no credit - you are expected to pay to receive it!!!
There are a lot of these at the moment. They are scams and can end up costing you a fortune evil
I'd just deleted it without trying to open it again if I were you, and if you get any messages from any numbers you do not recognise, do the same - delete or you will be paying for it

It means to buy a newer phone biggrin
But what Tracy-Jane said sounds more reasonable.
your best bet is to fone your service provider and talk to them as red says there are a lot of scams going round at the moment that deduct £5 of your fone the minute you open then message
i kow this is happening at the moment on the vodafone network and they are trying to trace and shut down the people responsible
Thanks all, they`d have a job deducting anything off my credit, it`s pay as you go, and I rarely top it up! It`s just for emergency contact.

wink

BULL SHIT! , there are hundreds of companies that work the reverse charge sms, they dont care what network you are on! they still take your money! Think of the network eg. vodafone as the royal mail, they deliver, you dont blame the post man for putting shite through your letter box! the majority of reverse charged txts are subscribed to by the phone owner by for example 88888 jamster "crazy frog" READ THE SMALL PRINT! it says by ordering a ringtone u subscribe to their services!
