Hope this doesn't get me blacklisted but I think I have a point to make.
Tonite in the chatroom at 3:21am we have a moderator harrassing people for logging in under different names. Now I know there is a problem with some folk pretending they are different people. But like most members of the chatroom I aint stupid. I can figure out for myself, eventually, who is taking the piss. And to be honest at 3:21am sometimes half the fun can be figuring out who is taking the piss. I am one of those individuals, due to insomnia that find themseves quite often up at that time of night.
Please moderators, police the offence, police the foul language, police those that are taking the piss and anything else you want at peak times, but at 3:21am, just leave us to have a bit of a laugh. Its half the fun of the chatroom at this time in the morning.
Billy
I don't have a problem with people changing nicks in the chatroom and it is sometimes done with good reason.
What I do point out is when "hungblkguy" comes back 30 seconds later as "blondebifem" and this isn't an exaggeration, it's an example.
Nick changes like this are deceitful. The person doing it might be chuckling to himself but I doubt anybody else is. I wasn't the operator in the room at the time you mention (for a change biggrin ) so I don't know the circumstances. Maybe you could elaborate?
Steve
Morning, the moderator was me, Dawn_Mids and I questioned 2 people at ish
One was a male having changed from a female name.
The other a male that had changed from a couple name.
Both of them, in my opinion could have been causing deceit and time wasting. So I asked why they had changed, nothing wrong with that.
I have choosen not to name the people but I do still have the logs of the conversation if needed.
Dawn :silly:
The problem with incidences like the one Mark describes is that people don't inform the room operators first.
If we're in the know we can be quite helpful but if all you see is someone shouting about other sites and microphones you tend to think the pubs have just closed and you take the appropriate action.
Steve
Mark I was in when this incident occured and have found the logs of the conversations as Ians still in bed rolleyes

I believe that on the whole the Moderators do a fantastic job and are the key to the success of this site.
There have been times in the Chatroom where, in my opinion, a Mod has been quick to boot someone out or has missed something that deserved a swift booting, but these are judgement calls that they have to make at short notice using the benefit of their experience. It is human nature that we are all different and therefore make differing decisions when faced with the same set of circumstances.
The same applies to "Locking" topics in the Forum. I have seen examples where again, in my opinion, a topic has been locked for no apparent reason but as I said before these are decisions that are made using the benefit of their experience.
It would be unreasonable of us to expect every Mod to make the right decision every time so it is inevitable that mistakes will be made.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Mods for the work they do policing this site which makes SH such a safe place to play and to bring up our children!! (Knew I wouldn't be able to stay serious all the way through!!) lol
Hear hear Sarge,
I have only the greatest respect for our beloved Mods!
They do a great job on the whole.
The one thing they must make sure of though is that they ALWAYS base their decisions on what is in the best interest of the site and not to satisfy a personal dislike for someone else's viewpoint.
But - keep up the good work!

I think the Moderators do a marvellous Job, especially at am in the morning.
I marvel at their dedication.
Wish I could keep awake long enough to be there.

I like that Judy, "If it works, do it again" or should it be "It works for me, do it again, please".
