I say things on here I wouldn't dare say if I were a mod, so it's not quite as one-sided as we sometimes imagine.

..at the end of the day, it's all about doing so with decorum, good manners and respect for ones fellow man..
eg..would you mind awfully, putting on a condom ol'boy? rotflmao
IMHO I think mods are horrible, evil creatures, who lurk in the cess pools of the SH castle, coming out only to feed on all us AUP abiding citizens of the castle.   lol
If i really thought that I wouldn't be here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The mods to a brilliant job for very little reward and thanks. drinkies for the mods and a big thankyou for helping Mark keep this site a decent and welcoming place to be.
I know this type of post has been brought up many many times before, I'm sure the mods and everyone else could give hundreds of examples.
Maybe if a mod 'decision' is made or a post answered as a 'mod' then it could be signed mod or something similar. Then the mods are free to post replies without peeps moaning at them for what they see as abusing mod privilages and acting like gods.
Kaz stands back with a hard hat on hoping she's not going to get shot at.
Abide by the rules, expect to be asked to do so if you dont, expect to be booted out if you stll dont
No different to real life really.
If a pub is too loud and the language isnt to your liking go to another pub.

I totally agree..
Fairly new to the site, a couple of months now, not had any problem with the mods, and even if I did I would realise that they are human and this is a fantastic free site..... better than a few that I've paid for!!!!!!!!!!!!
So thanks to everyone who puts in time and effort to keep this site going lol
I have to say I kind of expected the flak, I made my comment after seeing what i thought was short shrift from a mod to a newbie when I felt the mod was being a little heavy handed.
I respect the opinion of any and all of you, don't agree with all you say but i respect your right to express it.
On a general comment and perhaps this will help to clarify, it is true that it is as likely to be new members as mods and I admit I could have widened by point, i just felt at the time that I should expect more from the mods, I apologies to the mods who clearly don't deserve the criticism. Its important you realise that I don't imply all the mods, but I had a brief exchange with a mod this morning over this subject and the parting line was
'When I'm in Modding Mode, don't worry you'll know'
If my post has only served to make some members and mods think twice before taking a newbie off at the knees then all well and good. I noticed the question was also asked as to why I am a member of a site if I dislike it so much. I never said I disliked the site, I have enjoyed time on the site and have made some good contacts. It can be amusing, touching, interesting and lively, why wouldn't I want to stay a member.
I also said i would accept the views pro and con of people posting, so for all the thoughtful answers thank you whichever way you have expressed your opinion, for all the vitriolic replies, the paucity of your response reflects poorly on you.
And unless I'm booted, i have no intention of leaving so this wasn't a flounce as I depart with my tail between my legs, I hope to bump in to you again around the forums and chat room!
I agree that the mods have lives away from SH and I do think that given the membership, if the site starts to seriously affect their lives then maybe more are needed to take up some of the pressure.
I have seen mods snap at newbies for small things, but this could be down to many things either stress or pressing real life commitments or because there's something going on behind the scenes with the newbie that we don't know about, for example spam PMing.
As for this rediculous idea that they don't get paid for doing it.... Last time Fred was on he told me that Mark had given him a huge payrise and he'd be too busy spending it to be around the forum anymore. I thought everyone knew that? confused
innocent  lol

Aaah - Thank you.
That's a Babycham I owe you wink
I so love this place. Fun and edumacational too lol
So far today, I've almost learned the meaning of "(sic)" and now almost the meaning of "paucity" - Oh - and that the sun does things with my addled brain.
But by far the best thing I've learned today - I might be having raspberry pavlova for tea.
If you don't like the way the site is run leave!!
not hard really is it lol
we was all new once, we all made mistakes and put up daft posts and we all have the piss ripped out of us!!!
But most of us laugh it off, learn by our mistakes and become happy members of the site.
So stop moaning wink
Please also keep in mind that the mods carry the responsibility for what is happening in the forums. If worst comes to the worst the whole site could be shut down just because of some stupid remarks. So it is better to be a bit to much on edge than taking it to lightly.
Point taken G & H, could I now ask the Mods to do me a favour and lock this off, I feel I've had my say and I've enjoyed the discussion and most of the replies have been well made. Thanks all...........XX

make your mind up confused
I agree naughty. He wants opinions then he wants it locked
What does he want?
ok so rather than take this in a pm to the mod you were pissed with you bought it in to the cafe, then when no one backed you up you want the thread locked??????
please remember the site is free ,the mods work for free they are human and are allowed to play on site aswel.
alot of horney people come on here and jump in with daft posts in the hope it will get them a instant nsa free shag. sometimes in their eagerness they have posted exact doggin locations risking ruining the fun others have had over many a time there. Or they complain about not getting sex after a few hours or days of being on here.
It's gets tiresome. The mods do a great job and deserve thanks.
xxxxxxxxx fem xxxxxxxxxx
Agree with everybody
MODS - you do an awesome job and you do it for free
Many thanks

Bluexxx, your responses as a person/mod are a prime example of what he's "whinging" about. You have the opportunity to explain why mods do what they do, but you reply like a prat.

That's cos I am a prat. I apologise unreservedly for that fact, I am seeking therapy for it and have been for the last 20 years. It has so far cost me over £50,000 in fees but I am still no further forward. I think I was born a prat, and nothing will change it, not even a psychologist.... and we know how WONDERFUL all psychologists are, don't we girls and boys???? :haha:
Remember, a prat is for life not just from Christmas. Don't abuse prats, it's not fair. Embrace them instead, they have feelings too. kiss
Hehehehehehehehehe
Hehehehehehehehehe
Now, this prat is off to Manchester to ogle some ladyboys cos I do happen to have a life outside of SH too rolleyes
Hehehehehehehehehehe
Yeah... I did mean to be flippant and give a useless answer, just in case you missed the point lol
Sorry, sarcasm is part of my psyche. Deal with it.

Well I for one have respect for someone who has a worry, runs the risk of getting slammed for his opinion - and manages to get his point over without being insulting or derogatory at all. Fair play to you lol
Before I started doing this modding lark I didn't have a clue what went on behind the scenes. Yeh some comments do get posted in the open forums - but remember you never get to see the majority of stuff and correspondance that goes on in the background too wink
Sometimes you just hit snapping point - more often than not with me, I end up snapping at the people that least deserve it :undecided: redface Excluding Ice who always deserves it rotflmao and he's me mate so it's his job to take it :lol2: PS Ice, I owe you a phone call kiss
As for the set of mods at the moment, well I think it's a pretty good balance - mind you I would really wouldn't I :undecided: I'm a faffer, put me in a crisis and I'm in pieces. You need the stronger mods to be there at such times (and believe me, there's bluddy loads of times) .......... Take the other day for example. A post went up, a post that in hindsight really shouldn't have been up. I shot behind the scenes and faffed for England, was all over the bluddy place ............ closely followed by Mark  By the time it clicked that I could press buttons that actually done something Jags had swooped in, sorted it out, washed her hands, 'there thered' me, snogged Mark, put her feet up and was drinking a glass of wine like nothing had happened  worship
Had it been left to me and my "efficiency" the offending thread would've been about 9 pages long :uhoh: with me pratting about in the middle of it confused
God I'm babbling aren't I? :undecided: Can't remember the bluddy question now ........ was there a question?
So anyway, to cut a long story short, ok not exactly short, but just to cut it cos can't remember if I was answering something or just waffling for the sake of it :? ......
To summerise then - I think the mods are bluddy great :smug:
I have just read this thread - all I have to add is that, as has been said before in here, the mods (and most of us regulars) can tell when a newbie is being serious and when someone is just taking the piss. It is very rare indeed that the mods get it wrong and come down hard on one of the genuine newbies. There are still a lot of very frivolous new(er) posters here, assorted idiots, TTTTs (TM Jags), and wannabe comedians who are desperately unfunny, and I like the way the mods cut through their crap.
Mike.

There seems to be some misconception that the author of a thread then owns it for the duration of its life. This is not the case!!
If there is a good reason why a thread should be locked (becoming abusive, going round in circles, the information requested has been received etc.) then it will be locked. It will no be locked just because the author requests it.
