I have in the past defended single males because they sometimes get some rather rough treatment. However I do think that Booming got what he deserved. If he had started one thread, & then perhaps learnt from the responses he got, then I would be more sympathetic. But to start 5 threads & be insulting... rolleyes

And he was getting rather silly not listening to good old fashioned advice. So I think locking was the sensible thing to do.

I cannot defend this guys stupidity in any way,BUT a gentle nudge to reading all about the site etc before the snide comments of him being a cheat and if he’s so fit and good looking to go to his local pick up place, were unnecessary and just goaded him.
Many people come here and do not read the rules. In the past a gentle nudge in the right direction has often resulted in an apology and then a more adult approach to the site. This may not have worked in this case but it would have been worth a try don’t you think?

I'm not disputing HIS stupidity, I'm pointing out the double standards of which this is just one of uncountable examples. It's OK to slag off blokes for being sad desperate losers, but when the sad desperate loser happens to be a woman, all of a sudden we're supposed to show respect. :roll:

I'm not talking about the mods' response, I'm talking about the fact that his initial post was treated with almost immediate ridicule. Only one person bothered to give him the benefit of the doubt and offer some constructive advice without sarcasm. My point is, he was villified from the outset. When a woman posts "I want a shag" do people talk down to her? No they don't. That's all I'm saying.

At the moment there are a lot of people looking for threads to throw stones at. There is a difference between posts that are meant to inflame and posts that are stupid. Personally I thought that, until he was attacked, the guy's posts were merely stupid.
Yes, he did start 4 threads in the space of a few minutes, but that is surely for the mods to deal with. Why should anyone else get involved? Just ignore them and they go away unless they are trolls. But this guy didn't seem to be a troll, just an over-eager, naive, new member. Do a search on total post count to see what happens to most of the 15000 members of SH - they go away.

I think you've made a good observation there.
I've found that it's best to stay out of threads that piss you off. You forget all about it within a minute because by then you're already involved in something that's more worthwhile to you. Why waste your time over shit? dunno

I think you've made a good observation there.

yup, i too am staying out of contentious threads, mainly cos i generally give ammunition to others, and i really am not into flame wars! i just find it a bit sad, that all too often, regs are queueing up to rip the piss out of newbies, rather than give the advice that soo many of us were given when we joined? how many of us made a wonderfully insightful first post, or came here knowing exactly what SH was all about? not so many i reckon! kinda takes a while to get a feel for the place eh?
it's a bit crap to jump all over people who come here, and advice is always better than sarcastic piss taking IMHO. damn i just posted here didn't i? bollox!
