This is addressed to all those journos seeking quotes for their next piece of twisted sensation.... print this!!
I've just heard the news that MSN is to axe all it's U.K. chatrooms under the guise of protecting children from paedophiles - great news as it really is a problem.
But this, conbined with the current media frensy on Dogging has made me think that we are experiencing a new era of moralistic dictation and it scares the hell out of me. We in the swinging community are being made to suffer the collective tarring and feathering that's rightfully due to a few really sick individuals rolleyes
When is someone going to stand up and point out the difference between informed consent and coercion? When is someone going to stand up and remind us that it's wrong for one section of the community to dictate moral values to the rest? My (and yours, in all probability) fore fathers gave their lives for me to have the right to leap from the Chandolier at any bunch of blokes or girls that want to catch me! wink
When will those scare mongers recognise the real threats to civilisation and leave consenting adults alone!
evil
Hi Heather,
I heard the news this morning too about MSN closing down all their unregulated chatrooms. I've always thought that the web has revolutionised the way we communicate because of its unregulated nature, not in spite of it. I also think that its an exercise in futility, and the recent demonisation of Internet chatrooms by an irresponsible media hasn't helped either. The problem is that it is simply not possible to regulate every single chatroom in existence....and if they get closed on one provider then people will simply move to another, and eventually some enterprising individual will set up their own servers.
I too detect an air of moralistic dictation in the air....and it does make me wonder exactly how much it has to do with the way things are reported in newspapers and the media in general.
I think we should arrange a dogging session outside Downing Street in protest wink

Hi guys
I think the MSN thing is probably a good thing, although I do doubt Microsoft's motives. I have a suspicion that the threat of litigation and fallinf advertising revenue may have had something to do with it. However, if it stops some bad things happening then that is good.
I really don't think anyone has anything to worry about from the "Daily Mail" attitude that is currently going around towards dogging and swinging. I expect half of the people are outraged (I just find that funny lol ) and the other half are actually quite titilated by it all.
I think that the worst thing that will happen from all of the publicity is a big rise in people visiting dogging sites which may or not be a bad thing (depending on your point of view). I may also mean an even bigger dilution of us single chaps on the swinging scene. Dammit!! wink
Actually I see that in Europe the unmoderated free chat rooms are closing but in the US the unmoderated free chatrooms will be credit card subscription only and bundled with other products. THAT is what I suspect it is really all about...money.

Give that man a cigar...
It's the old Microsoft trick. if people won't pay for new products like MSN 8 then bundle things that used to be free into them and cover it up with a good story...
...and one reason why Bill Gates is so damn rich, no doubt! wink
I have just visited Melanies Place and bold as brass on the front page she is bragging about being asked to do a story for the news of the world about dogging.
She even includes the article for us to read and it aint much cop I can tell you.
That site is making money out of what we do for fun - so commercially good for them but bad for business for us guys.
I do think it is hypocritical of the site to take the money from the people who would love the scoop of trying to put her site out of business.
I bet that dogging increases after the stories have run their course but will it be for the good of it - I am sure that more couples will, having been exposed to it - dip their toes in the water but I am sure that it will mean a major increase in single guys as well (no probs I'm One) but there is enough hassle already with almost crowd like scenes at some of my favorite venues.
how further underground can we be driven - As already stated it's not illegal unless a member of the public complains - Moralistic people - What do they say about glass houses?
I thought the mary Whitehouse era was long gone
