So, I phoned the doctors, and explained the situation, in detail, including the time of the `event`, only to be told........
`I`m sorry, I think you have the wrong number, this is a private residence`
We got there eventually

So my daughter comes home from her boyfriend`s in a panic regarding a split condom. They`d been all over his local town, looking for a pharmacy, only to be turned away because she didn`t have the 25 quid needed(how good of them to direct her to the local family planning clinic etc, bloody idiots :huh

Its bloody ridiculous the price they charge for the morning after pill. Youd think they'd make it free like it is if you get it from family planning!!
What if you dont have £25?? If they can give it over the counter at all it should be free to people it would nornally be free to on the NHS already if they need it! I mean c'mon its not like youre gonna haev a large influx of teenagers all wanting to "bump" a morning after pill for a buzz!

It was the lack of information offered which pissed me off. She went to the local family planning clinic via her own initiative, but it was closed. She wasn`t sure where she stood regarding our local GP because it normally takes so long to get an appointment, and the hospital didn`t occur to her. Fortunately I`m on the ball, and we have good communication over this stuff, but I dread to think of the scenario concerning a teen who doesn`t have access to this.
Kitty, I`ve probably been the talk of the town since you, Eager, and Voddy met up with us in our local, why change the trend?!

Tis a good point Venus family planning is only open certain days of the week up here so you have to go to another surgery usually further away
Family planning advice should be available 24/7 even if the clinics arent opened, maybe there is somewhere but if there is I dont know about itso maybe its not well advertised enough. Just as well your daughter felt she could come to you about it, many children wouldnt.

In my case, each time I've telephoned NHS direct, the 'help' I got was 'call your doctor when the surgery opens'. Very helpful. NOT.

Actually that was the first number I tried, then once the automated service began common sense kicked in and I tried the local surgery! Methinks mum might have been panicking a little! Especially since I`m pretty sure the number I dialled first time around was an old school friend`s number I haven`t used for about 17 years! I swear to god it was her mum`s voice!

okay, not that I;'m an expert but.......
If she's young (under about 25 or some cases 23) then brook advisory nearly always fit you in on the same day and it's free.

and have a pharmacist who wants to sell it to you, they take a lot of responsibility to sell you that drug and they dont exactly make a profit considering the time involved to sell it properly.
People often forget that pharmacies are private companies, and can go bust like anyone else. Retail phrmacy is not well paid, the hours are long, and the training tough.
Still apart from standing up for pharmacists a bit glad you got sorted VenusGot it all to come I am sure in 11 years time or so...
