Now this could be a genuine thing here but with all the stuff happening at the minute with the press etc, I thought I would share this one with you....
I logged into my MSN tonight (not my swinging one) and there was a box requesting someone to be added to my list..... Wierd I thought, I haven't given anyone this addy recently... Oh well, click yes and wait and see.... So I did...
Lo and behold a box pops up and says
hi....
Hiya says me
Have we chatted before
Dont think so says me
We cant see your pic..
That's right says me (starting to get suspicious now)
Any idea how you can?
Nope says me
Why would you want says me
So we can see who we are talking to
Conversation waffled a bit and I asked where they got my MSN addy from
Dont know they said, it was there waiting to be added when we signed in
Same here says me
Long pause.......
We will delete you if you like but we are nice people
I am sure you are says me, but I am still curious to know where you got my MSN addy from..
Dont know they said
Ok at this point I realise that there are only 2 places they could have got it from.... One is on my profile here on the forum (and that is set to be hidden) and a motorsport forum that we post in... So I thought here we go.... this will fox em...
So what type of motorsport are you interested in then??... We like hillclimbing the best..
Ooohhh look they are now offline!!
So the burning question is..... Were they press, were they genuine people or did their/my computer magically add them without their/my knowledge???
I know that we are all on our guard etc, but it looks as though there may be a few dirty tactics going on here too folks....
Stay safe
Shireen

Shireen, a simliar thing happened to me recently.
i logged on to msn to find someone had added me. I accepted 'cos I'm too nosy not to. The other person didn't start a conversation so I had to instigate it - usual thing;
me - Hello, who are you?
Them- who are you?
me - erm you should know, you added me to msn
Them - no, I didn't
on and on .... the only thing I could think of was of course SH, so naturally asked "Do you use Swinging Heaven?"
Them - never heard of it. What is it?
Me(starting to get a bit concerned now) errrrm just a site I use
Anyway, we decided to keep each other on our contact list, had a chat, exchanged a few details about ourselves, etc.
Then she (cos she is a woman!) mentioned the company she works for - and that's when it hit me -
- it was my boyfriend's mum!!!!!!!!
For some reason, while his BB was off, he'd added me to his mother's msn without telling/warning me. And there's me going on about bloody swinging!!!
Incidently, 'cos of this thread, the threat of reporters and a recent barrage of strangers adding me to msn, I've deleted my msn ID from my SH profile
About once a month I have a teen-aged girl in California pop up on my IM (where my id is my real name). It seems the star quarterback at her high school shares my name and she really wants to get a date with him.
Finally she's accepted that I'm on the other side of the atlantic and I'm old enough to be her dad, and I haven't seen her for a while......
I can honest;ly say its a problem I never had except with aol Im but you just change your settings which is fairly simple!!
Isnt there a bit for that on msn or did I miss that discussion!?
Might be worth checking your msn/ profiles and checking if they are "public;" msn allows you to remove it from the search facility, dunno about .
I've had a couple of people add me, basically they've gone through the profiles search, had a look at my profile and decided to add me...
Personally I dont have a problem... made a few friends out of it :-)
hmmmmmmmm!
now i have to say i thought nothing of this thread, till tonight, when i found 2 new users trying to add me that i didn't know from adam. the nicks were completely new to me, and had i not seen this thread i might have let them add me. as it is my MSN is no longer on my profile. cheers shireen. very strange!
neil x x x ;)
MSN messenger 6/ 6.1/ 6.2 has bugs, but before you all go crazy the main problem is that MSN has fixed the main spam bug problem, now it is that instead of the spambots hitting your mail addys, they have transfered to MSN messenger, Windows messenger is not affected as yet, but that will only be in time.
is being trialled - with spam bug fixers, but if anyone adds you to their messenger, just don't accept them, that is the easy way so far.
