had a search to see if this was done and got a gazillion posts so sorry if done before.
The concerts we missed post had me going through cd collection and playing stuff i not listened to in ages.
Also brought back memories of stuff that was related to specific track or albums or concerts.
Thinking back to Genesis and previous post about first love i remembered the time i went to the concert with this girl nothing ever happened but i can still picture in my mind leaving the concert as if it was yesturday and it was 21 years ago.
same with smells too.
I saw Genesis 4/5 times, a fantastic live band, but then we saw Pink Floyd and... hellfire, totally blew us away!! cool
It was the 25th anniversary of the Dark Side and the release of the Division Bell.
The memories are of a full hall, filled with people of all ages from young teenagers to pensioners and the smell of dryed ice mixed with herbal ciggies.. wink oh... and a rather good sex session with the miss DD (as she was at the time!!)
'Old rockers never die.. they simply fade away'
Pink Floyd @ Wembley stadium
talking to total strangers next to us smkoing herb cigs and completley lol losing the plot for 15 mins in a fit of hysteric laughter with everyone around us watching and going hmmm wish i had some of that.
That was a trip...Earls Court, 27th October 1994. (jeeps I'm gettin' sad!) We couldn't hear a thing for a couple of days afterwards apart from a ringing in the ears!
Loved the pigs... :silly:
Went and blew a bundle of cash getting all the old 'albums' on CD...
bugger it... crank up the volume.. light up.. sit back and let it all happen..

Pink Floyd again the wall tour last day which was to be last time they ever played on original line up with roger waters.
walking to earls court tube station with everyone including me and brother carrying bits of the wall to take home as souviners. one guy had a whole brick was made of cardboard but was massive. oh god wetting myself thinking about it.
i was liserning to oasis
whats the story morning glory
i havent lisened all the way through for a while but for me i was say it was the joint best album of the 90s the other being prodigys fat of the land

Don't Look Back in Anger by Oasis reminds me of the year 7/8 disco's I used to go to cos the line where it says 'sooooo, Sally can wait...' particularly reminds me of it cos my Spanish teacher was called Sally and she was always there. Everyone who knew her name used to sign it dead loud too, aswell as me. How sad? lol.
Oooh also, that Living Next Door To Alice Song used to always get requested at the discos and everyone would shout "who the fook is Alice" dead loud to pee the teachers there off. It did us no favours like, that song got banned from further discos....
 banghead

oh hell i remember that i did it whem i left my mates engagment party and shouted the same thing on leaving pissed as a fart. oh god this is brining back some memories
when i was 14/15 i used to go to a mates house and sit in the front room on saturday afternoons and just listen to tubular bells, the eagles, and most of all, our fav album dark side. We would sit listening and reading all the lyrics off the album sleeves
he was my best mate in school, realy weird cos all the other girls had girly mates, but we had a great respect for eachother
He was killed at Goose Green in june 82
RIP George xx
Every song is a flippin love song when your hearts just been broken
And everyone is so flippant and trivialises what your going through
i know what your saying but for me music has the opposite effect i only ever remember the good things related to it. maybe because i only had 2 relatioships but saying that 4 yrs ago when things when funny i cant remember a single song.
i can tell you about seeing rolling stones @ brixton acadmey in very small gig stuff like that, funny how the mind works
this was on my mind just this morning... music and memories!
strangely, a piece of music with memories attatched may not >for me< be an entirely appropriate : a sentimental/love song for past tryst etc etc...
it seems that most music with attendant memories is entirely out of place.... something loud and thrashy, dark or angry may well bring thoughts of a rather sad time, it just happened to be what I was listening to at the time... or perhaps thats simply saying something about my taste in sounds???...
I dont tend to listen to music to suit a mood, or change a mood, rather I feel I *have* to listen to something specific... for no given reason... oh blimey
what on earth am I going on about?
lp
REM "everybody hurts" because I was hurtin
Elvis Presley "Wise men" reminds me of my Nanna
Doris Day "Secret Love"
Simply Red "Stars" reminds me of a certain guy when I was 19
Lonestar "Amazed" because that's mine and Mr Jay's
Shania "You're still the one" our dance off record
Lavender smells - reminds me of my Nanna, I'm really missing her, it's her anniversary this week.
The one that springs to mind is Dire Straight's Brother's in Arms smile
I remember sitting wtaching the live concert which was televised in Australia in the latter half of 1986... If I hear that record I am instantly transported back in time to Australia... Some bluddy good memories and some bluddy awful ones too... But my god the good outweigh the bad wink biggrin

Thank you Shireen, Doris Day is a bit of a fav for me, that track in particular is quite sentimental. I only play the CD when no one's in the house 'cos they take the mick out of "old mother hubard!" indeed! lol
Bring it here hun... We can sing to it together :karaoke: :giggle:
