Sassy-Seren's thread made me think about being awake during operations (intentionally). I've had 2 ops while awake and apart from a very interesting conversation with the anaesthetist about forensics they were generally very quiet affairs.
So, my question is :
If you had to have an operation what music would you choose?
For me it would be Meatloaf - Paradise By the Dashboard Light or Mozart's clarinet concerto or Pachelbel's Canon.
(In edit : Sorry Sassy got your name wrong at first)
Because the only operation that I have had awake was emotive and potentially very sad. I chose something I wouldn't ordinarily listen to, this was so that I wouldn't ever have to switch it off if I heard it again.
It was some random operatic thing.
There is I'm told -though i don't know it's name, and have never heard it- a record by mathmos made up entirely of sampled noises from a post-mortem,this might make for an interesting operation.
Loads of surgeons have cd players and the like and play music in theatre anyways these days (leastways the ones i worked with did!)
one used to play Czech opera at full volume, and another had a penchant for Queen, and one for Radio One
You could do a duet with the surgeon!!
Elton John and Kiki Dee
:karaoke: Don't go breaking my heart! :karaoke:
Although the surgeon would have to do Kiki Dee and the patient woud have to be Elton John!!
I was observing a guy having a melanoma cut from his scalp......blood spurting out Kill Bill stylee....
and going round & round in my mind was
:karaoke:
"Ooh bet you miss me like a hole in the head"
Made me feel awful but I just couldn't shift it!
