I'm going to start walking (seeing as though my local swimming pool is shut ) to try and get a bit fitter. I may attempt a leisurely jog for (very) brief periods. Equipped with my new iPod (gosh, how I love it , ) I am trying to compile a "music to get fit to" playlist. Any suggestions? (Oh and I don't necessarily mean with a keep fit theme although that could be amusing!) I just fancy some good music to pound the pavements to.... Nola x
I listen to the Basement Jaxx or Freemasons when I'm walking. I'm not a big fan of dance music in general but both of those have a good beat and make me walk a bit quicker than normal!

 I'm a huge dance music fan and I put trance and D&B on my mp3 when I'm walking
i think anything thats upbeat and makes you feel positive and good is fab....for instance Nola, i know that you like Prince, and that he makes you feel good....so some nice loud Prince should make for a pleasant walk!
A few, but they are booby trapped by dog splots... And if a gang of kids start following you, don't run up a load of steps and start jumping about. They won't join in like in the film, instead they'll nick your Ipod and fill your pockets with the aforementioned dog splots.
I'm with Mrs B... Prince is a good one, especially the track Lets go crazy! I've been listening to a lot of eighties stuff on my pod when I walk, the Flashdance soundtrack is a good one to walk to, and also anything by Adam and the Ants.. trot to the drum beats! Have fun, and enjoy your pod... if you want me to burn you a disc let me know

But be careful with the Adam and the Ants... Walking to the beat on Prince Charming is ok... Even Stand and Deliver is ok, but I tried Goody Two Shoes and almost had a coronary.

Clare from Steps has just brought out a fitness DVD/CD from when she left steps, went up to fifteen stone and how, by dancing to her music is now back down to a size 10... I wanted to put it in the trolley the other night at Tesco's but was told in no uncertain terms it was 'too gay' I like Steps.. great to walk/run to.. and Kylie and Girls Aloud too

aren't 'we' soooo homophobic really... in our home being 'too butch' is the ultimate insult. Worlass frequently flings her long hair around as justification for having a wardrobe full of (too butch) Ben Shermans.

Hmmm I now hatching a plan to steal your ipod! I have a whole gym playlist on my ipod, which consists of dance and singalong pop and most of the dirty dancing sound track. You could try some classical stuff as well, if it's your thing. I have lots of that as well. It's great for the clearing your mind, total relaxation, in need of inspiration and time out kind of walks.

Hmmmm... I didn't really like Steps but didn't despise them. Maybe I should check out the DVD - if a bit of random boogying can have that effect!
Not so good on the music front, Nola...but when your walks take you away from your urban comfort zone, give me a nudge Adam. Somedays you're the statue, some days you're the pigeon.

the cure, any good merengue song, skunk anansie, most classics from the 80's, lou reed (walk on the wild side, good for walking AND for the bedroom;) although there you might not want to use your ipod), anything light, with a decent rythm and that has a general feelgood vibe should do the trick but if you plan to walk around town do call..because I want to see it :giggle:

Good merengue songs? Who by? Any recommendations? I listen to an online Latin music radio, but it is just tracks, no details.
