Naming & Shaming...

I have always been lead to believe 'Naming & Shaming' is not allowed on the site, am I right? I understand that nobody can stop anybody from talking between themselves and warning other people because of there unfortunate let downs. So surely people posting comments on other people's 'Quick Comment' part of there profile, warning other people that the person is a time waster is just the same as 'Naming & Shaming'... is it not? dunno
I've recently chatted to somebody who seems to be under attack of this. They have had 3 comments left on there profile stating they are a 'time-waster' in 3 days.. 2 of the comment being from 1 person.. (they actually deleted the post from yesterday and have had another wrote back on from this same person today)!
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they are or are not a 'time-waster' because I have not arranged anything with them but surely this attack isn't allowed and falls into the category of being 'Named & Shamed'!!!
The " Name & Shame " debacle is a non runner, I suggest you get those concerned to report any incidents of what they find abusive and not leave it to you!

Nobody has left anything to me. I asked as I wanted to know how it stands myself.
They have a voice?
I'm only stating the obvious, no offence meant in your concerns.

Its a no brainer, its not allowed. All they have to do is file a support ticket
Naming and shaming is frowned upon on Sh, mainly cos it is so open to abuse.
So, if anyone sees any instances of it on any profile then report the person naming and shaming by clicking on their profile then by clicking on the report profile button and filling in the appropriate details.
Abuse of any kind is not tolerated on this site, so please report all instances of it, however small.
Either use the report abuse button on the profile, or submit a support ticket, or pm a mod who is showing on line.
or if the person has Shrep and they no-showed for a meeting arranged via that system, leave 'negative' feedback ?

That would be naming and shaming lol
And any genuine timewaster I imagine would sensibly have shrep turned off, plus you have to approve/choose what to display so pointless really lol

Two,
true, but as Shrep is there may as well use it lol
Plus whilst they can set to approve comments, they can't stop the 'red' marker showing in Meet rep
The comments are not being left via SHRep. They are being posted directly onto the profile through the 'quick comments' section that is bottom right on profiles which means they do not have to accept them for it to show but can delete them.
Everytime they remove the comments, the person posting them posts more. This is now becoming BULLYING.
im sure you can set your profile to not allow quick comments?
i dont think anyone can leave anything on mine.
i was concerned about this when it became a feature as although i was told you can remove them, you have to see them first and by then it can be too late.
for instance what if someone posts your tel number etc on there?
x lou x
oh and i hate the quick comments, you have something personal to say send a bloody message.
oh unles im vetting a potential meet, then they let me know straight away if it a imediate no go, i like discretion, if they like quickie coomments its a no go for me.
Go to where it says My Account <<<<<<<<<<<<<< then chose settings then chose the privacy tab and then untick the box that says display quick comments.

So that's where I've been going wrong ;-)

I`ve been trying to get me brain cells round this one blink
There are systems on SH where people can leave comments about others but "bad" comments are removable and a reportable offence......
So.....what`s the point ?dunno

The comments are removable, but it still shows as a 'negative' mark in the box at the top of the profile (I have one from someone who admits they clicked the wrong button after a few too many glasses of wine but managed to leave nice comments). The only way to get rid of it is to turn of SHRep.

As I said earlier, this is nothing to do with SHrep.
If you was to go on my profile, at the bottom there is a box titled 'Post a quick comment'.. If you were to post a nasty comment in that box it goes straight onto the profile, therefore if I didn't log on for a week that comment will be available for all to see till I notice it's there and remove it. That is where the naming and shaming took place.

I don't see the problem with it.
If you are a decent enough person, sincere, honest, straightforward etc - then any comments that you get will reflect that.
If however you are a bit of a so-and-so, then the comments you get will reflect that too.
The people who know you (or know of you) will be able to see straight through any negativity - and if you don't notice the remarks left on your profile for some time... then surely you cannot by default be overly concerned about what anyone has said about you - otherwise you would be checking them 3 times a day.
We have had positive and negative comments and messages - they are probably still there, can't say we are particularly bothered as it is clear if someone has an axe to grind.
Nevertheless, I also believe that there are rules to follow and it is not right that some people should be allowed to flout those rules that other people have to stick to - doesn't apply to us personally as we don't leave negative comments and are not really affected by anyone who leaves them for us... afterall this is the internet.
