And I thought I was alone here when it came to Nawashibari, just now I read a topic and I saw the word Nawashibari casually used.
If you practice this (like myself) or curious let me know for we’ll definitely have something in common, and I’d love to have a friendly chat with people as yourselves .

twas part of my scene !

Was part of your scene, what happend got fed up, or needed something more or you found something better???
I've been into Nawashibari on and off for a few years, since my late teens, its not easy to find a partner that excepts such a method, but Iam still very far from letting it go.

Thats ok you either love it or hate it, everyone to their own.
You have to be into bondage obviously to even contemplate Nawashibari, plus the website above is rather vague :?
you do learn new things every day....
from the website above I found this "tutorial"

it's interesting but I'm still not sure if it's for me.. I'd love to try it though smile
Ananga, question: is this for males and females? All the pics I've seen only show women tied up and no I'm not asking to be tied up hehe (not yet anyway!! ) just curious
redface That might have been me that casually chucked it into a post.
I've tried it before a long time ago, and again not so long ago....... I liked it and want to try it again with someone who is more experienced that the last person who I tried it with! lol
There is leaving a girl hanging around and then...... well.........

Hi awol,
How can I answer your question in a simple short way, Iam not a historian but I’ll try:
Around 1467 in Japan a form of torture was created called “joshu” roughly translated it means Female Prisoner, but the bondage techniques here had a very gruesome purpose, it was used in the brutal and sadistic torture of Female Prisoner by cutting off limbs noses ears etc and subsequent death of the woman usually with the aid of a Samurai sword.
During the Edo period the execution and punishment of women became public in which the prisoner would be binded and lead through the streets to deter a particular crime. The Japanese author of the time Takigawa Masajiro noted women criminals aroused the perverted interests among the male on-lookers. The purpose of public disgracing was to deter ordinary folks from committing crimes by indicating the consequence, as well as to humiliate the criminals to the maximum.
By 1742 new laws (punishments) came about amongst many being:
Whip (mutchiuchi)
Pressing stone (ishidaki)
Rope (ebizeme)
Hung by rope (tsurizeme)
Many of these techniques are still used in main stream bondage today.
As time passed the punishments started to become theatrical or a display which clearly lead its way into main stream contemporary Bondage.
From what I know specifically about Nawashiberi is it may be descended from or is linked to a form of combat used by a clan of Ninja to subdue and immobilize the opponent with the aid of rope/ropes.
But to answer your question, it is obvious that these forms of bondage had begun life with women in mind.

As ananga has said, it originally decended from women cirminals, but was also used in various other forms of punishment... the restriction causes the ropes to bind and also cramps in oddly positioned limbs, used in the right way it also causes the limbs to die without killing the person.
Most pictures seen are of small women in provocative poses, but then again men pay to see them... so photos of men tied up is less of a market place, which is exactly why I did a male suspension shoot; because I like to be an awkward git lol

I'm still learning the art, but finding someone that is happy to allow a less experienced rope worker is very hard as most subs who are into it tend to have worked with rope masters at some point.
Ananga and piercedJon,
Thanks for the info guys... very interesting to know the origins of this...
(I think I lived a very sheltered life!)
