I'm going to be visiting a trade fair at the NEC in September.
Is there anyone from the area who can recommend a good but cheapish hotel in the near vicinity. Taxi or bus ride away. Preferably near some night life or something interesting to do at night, as I'm gonna be bored!!

Have a look at the travelodge Yardley between The NEC and Broad Street in Brum for the night life and cafe/bistro/bars ect

Go into town - trains go in to New Street very often and only take a few minutes - lots of hotels but try some round the Mailbox area - the Malmaison is my favourite - cheapest on Sunday nights.

Holiday Inn, Hilton and one more right at NEC - easiest way is to google and book early as get better prices.

Britannia hotel birmingham is only a few mins walk to the train station and then 10/15 mins to the NEC, Oh and the important bit, its near the nightlife biggrin
