Best advice I could give would be to use all aspects of the site: chatrooms, forums, adverts etc. If you check in the Let's Meet Up section of the forum you will see that some of the members organise socials or munches - which are events that allow members the chance to get to know each other in a non-play environment. There are also parties and other events.
Just depends what you're after.
