Hey what about a female Pope ?

This could have been somebody giving me a wind up.........but I am sure somebody would be able to research this and find out if it was true. Me, I prefer to be ignorant and just let it roll because I found it incredible and funny so never tried to disprove it.
I was once told that there was a female pope sometime ago. She had dressed as a man all her life. They never found out until she died. To stop this happening again, the new pope is carried into office above a floor covering made of glass where some of the cardinals look up under his robes and check if he has some meat and two veg.
I have no idea if this is true but I found the story funny..................and I could have fallen foul of a prankster as well.
Dave_Notts
If you have fell foul of pranksters then so have I, was going to mention the same thing..... I'll have to revert to plan B now.....
I heard that the BBC will be televising the Cardinals picking the next Pope.... It's going to be called..... Pope Idol....
(i'll get my coat....)
and i can't believe it hasn't already been mentioned...... come on!

As per the bookies outsider .. I'm sticking Father Dougal MacGuire of Craggy Island.

You guys just don't get it. Catholicism is so now. If your ad here isn't working, here are some top testament tips for getting a girl:
1. Find an attractive prisoner of war, bring her home, shave her head, trim her nails, and give her new clothes. Then she's yours.
2. Find a prostitute and marry her.
3. Find a man with seven daughters, and impress him by watering his flock.
4. Purchase a piece of property, and get a woman as part of the deal.
5. Go to a party and hide. When the women come out to dance, grab one and carry her off to be your wife.

TUESDAY VOTES CRUCIAL FOR RATZINGER
Tuesday's votes are seen as crucial in assessing whether Ratzinger can win the papacy. But both Reese and bookmakers said the German cardinal was slipping back.

Well - a new pope has been elected - we just don't know who it is yet.

The funniest thing connected with this topic was the cartoon by Steve Bell in the Guardian showing the cardinals in their conclave, sitting around, all reading "What Pope" magazine. lol

gordon bennett....i cant belieive this?......78....an now pope?....how long is he gonna last?
(must be amarket in pope funerals) !....
soz.....my point of view !
Alan xxx

The theory is that he's NOT meant to last - they were all pissed off that John Paul II lasted so long. So, short and sweet it's meant to be.
I can't comment, I'm not Catholic and don't really care.

hahaha..I'd just made that calculation myself, the Papacy is going to have more lead players than Dr Who over the next few years at this rate!
Could any Catholics enlighten us as to whether there is a good reason for appoiting such an elderly pontiff?? Was it like this prior to JP? surprised

Yes it was like this before.
It's a promotion thing... you have to be Priest, Bishop, Arch Bishop, Cardinal...
Can't be done in a day.
An 18 year old Pope would be ............................................ erm, .................... interesting??

thanks Vix..but they managed to elect a Pope in his 50's last time...must be good for continuity to have some one thats going to hang around for a few years..they can implement policies and have a long term view. Benedict apparantly is a hard liner...I know many Catholics prefer strict boundaries, but wouldnt a younger candidate have been a positive, all embracing signal?? Ironically, a real radical step of electing a black, African Pope was quickly dismissed because African Catholics are the most right wing of the lot!!

ha! now look! being in touch with the Secret Chiefs is NOT the same as being Inspired By The Holy Word Of God
, so there! rolleyes :P
i'm quite sure the whole idea of a pope who might just die 3 months down the line never entered anyone's head! not like that has ever ever happened before? ;)
oh . . . and that Opus Dei? good them ain't they? lol
neil x x x ;)
I don't know, but when I watched the news footage yesterday of all the cardinals dressed up in their gear, at prayers and all the rest ... I just thought how odd it is to spend you whole life worshipping something that might not actually exist ...
Yes, I know it's all about faith and all that, but it's just weird to me dunno
Having said that, I often think the same thing about the job I do, how absolutely absurd and out of perspective it all is sometimes ... it's not like we're saving lives or anything cool

especially if female?
Would make a tricky moral dilemma for how you should look at the Pope poster on the bedroom wall.
Yes... nooo.... oooo... but yes... I think i'd have to put some tape over her eyes to stop her looking at me.
Not that I have pope posters on the bedroom wall you'll understand. I'm just talking hypothetically... if the pope was 18... and female... and I was 15 again.... urmmm yea.. very hypothetical.
