You have 6 months to stick your public pics in your private gallery if you dont want peeps to find them. No different from now really except people will be able to search for profiles with pictures in a more specific way.

it's rather convenient for you that you don't seem to grasp..or maybe wantto grasp the difference between purpose and actual use.
in how many ways must we stress that we don't want to hide our pics but we want to be free to have them rated or not to??
as you seem to insist on the fact that the majority of the members have asked for this implementation, would you be so kind as to address me to the posts, topic, poll where you have actually discsussed this in public and where those requests have been handed to you??
as I said before, I'm an active member only since a couple of weeks..and I might have missed it...
but surelly if you have discussed this publicly or if this solution has been asked for by the great majority of the public, this must be recorded somewhere and it's a matter of seconds for you to point me towards the appropriate topic....right?

you could remove the ratings system,regarding the quality and just stick with all the other boxes(which i believe is a great idea)...it would still be helpful in searches and ok you may get blurred pics in some but at least your get the ones you have requested in your search.

The whole thing is a dreadful idea
We have been members for a while now and tbh we love the site; even when it was awkward and kranky (logouts, crashes n otha techy stuff) - we have watched it evolve and get better, and we really like many of the new recently installed features
BUT
THIS NEW IDEA IS A REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD ONE
For the first time we are genunely considering leaving to another site - and god knows theres plenty of them out there - but we have decided to give the SH Towers bosses a chance to change their collective minds - stop this idea - and reverse your decision to implement this change
We cannot speak for others but if it isnt done we'll be off

It's not just a bad idea and it is highly illogical. Sadly it also smacks of laziness. Too lazy to think it through because they were worried it would be too much work, and as a consequence missing a simple solution.
Give the power of tagging photographs to the owner of the photographs. How difficult is that to understand?????

or perhaps give the power to those that authorise the pictures for the site anyway .. i know it would be hard work as i realise how many pictures the mods have to deal with in the first place but surly this would be some sort of compromise

leave it up to people to do their own, and you have nowhere near the flack there is now..........
the way it has been implemented has "pigs ear" written all over it, and they just wanted to get it done quickly and let others do it, rather than right and let people do it own there own......

I authorise pics, but not on my own though. However I personally authorise several hundred every week. So taking a flyer that I do 500 pics a week (a very conservative number) and I do this every week except for holidays, so that's 48 weeks which works out at 24,000 pics a year and I've been doing it for about 5 years, so that's about 120,000 pictures.
Too much like hard work? Dead bloody right it is, but lazy? I don't think so.
I think the categorising of the pics is a good idea, I really do. But the way it has been implemented is pants. We don't have a partyline to tow here, so we, the Mods, can say how we feel about it, as members.
I agree with the idea that a note is put on the homepage for all to see and give everyone a period of time to categorise their own pics. At the end of the period the new system is switched on to make all categorised pics to be searchable and all uncategorised are not. All the members who asked for this system will have complied, because they asked for it, so it would only affect those who didn't ask for it, but according to Martin, they would be the minority.
How this is looked upon as a way of saving time I haven't a bloody clue, because you are giving up accuracy (self categorisation) for speed (Uncle Tom Cobly and all categorisation).
Martin, you offered to talk to anyone over the phone about this, well, my number is on it's way.

i was more thinking of for new members that the mods rate them as well as authorising them. as for existing members perhaps the idea of rating them themselves .. not the best idea but seams to be the way to go

See it as "indexing" Foxy. An individual pic is "labelled" (tagged.) When someone searches for (eg) "lesbian" anything tagged as such shows up in the search.
It's a means of narrowing a search, or pissing people off, depending on how it's done. wink

Do we get to punish anyone who tags our pics wrong? Or does it in a way designed to annoy us?
Why would a complete stranger be able to put a label against my picture? Isn't that kind of high-handed, self-opinionated behaviour something swingers have been fighting against for years?
Have I got this right? Pics in the public folder are open to tagging by all and sundry, you have to hide them in a private folder if you want to avoid that?

How do we find out who tagged our pics?
It may be on it but I won't be tagging anyone's pics on principle and I don't think anyone has done mine, so I can't see what it looks like.

I've spoken to Martin about this and there will be something announced tomorrow about it, which should alleviate some of the problems you were concerned about.

just found out about this feature and i gotta say the phrase if its not broken springs to mind!
From what I can see its open to abuse and its just making the genuine folks put their pics in private.

If this was a search engine then by typing sexual interests,activities in surely the user would be able to find what he/she or they where looking for and then find more details of peoples concerned by looking on profile and reading on as before please give the members credit and realise they can read and as a swinging site do dont need instant gratification of seeing pictures..Not by putting a system which is open to abuse can mislead due to incorrect information been entered by idiotic or spiteful people, when will SH realise that many people felt safe in the previous climate of the site not in an enviornment where there looks etc are judged and determined by others, this addition will surely close doors when the site is meant to break barriers.
Can i suggest an immediate removal of this or a opt in /out option .

OK well thatâ€™s you opinion and you very welcome to it. Our main delight is aimed towards the fact that SH are aiming the improvements based on what the majority want rather than a certain few keyboard warriors who bombard the forum and agree that their views are what we ALL want.
You always find with anything that forums generally are a small % of views rather than on the whole. Have a look at any Football forum and you will find extremist views - is that the views of majority of fans? NO of course not it is attention seeking loners who have nothing better to do with their lives. The fact that SH took this as gospel for so long was disappointing but it appears that they have now opened their eyes to what everybody wants rather than the vocal few and that more than anything else is what we are more pleased with.
I understand that there are implementation issues with the tagging and it has not been dealt properly but that does not make any opinion void or wrong. The fact that SH are pushing ahead with what the majority want is really the way forward for a pay site especially in these times.
