i am glad the newbie socials idea seems to be getting off the ground, i am definatly looking in doing one in newcastle to start off with as it is the area i best know... meet in a pub and then go for a meal....

I've been a member of SH for a month now (although I've swung for much longer), adn this is far and away the most interesting thread I've seen - nice one, Fabio :thumbup:
From what I can gather, SH is suffering from a bout of indigestion - too many newbies all at once - and yes, I can see it's unsettling for the regulars. Who are all these people? :confused: :confused: :confused:
I know some regulars are afraid of undercover journalists. Well, there's sod all any of us can do about it, except that if you are a prominent figure in your own community, just stick with the 'tried and trusteds'. If you're nobody special (like moi), then no journalist will bother - it's not a story. I live not too far away from where the Radlett parties are held. Not too long ago, Richard and Janet, who host these parties, appeared on the front page of the local rag ( Local reaction? Zilch. It didn't even qualify as a nine day wonder...
As quite a newbie ourselves we love the idea of a social meet. It can be so hard getting invites to these parties/munches. Lucky for us we have met a few people now so we can be on the invite lists Yippeee! Let us know if you decide to have one in Yorks

Thinking back to when we were new on the swinging scene we were paranoid about other people learning that we were swingers, a newbie get together would have been great for us.
One suggestion which might make newbies more relaxed is a "no cameras or camera/mobiles to be used at the meet" rule.

fabio why dont we use the room where the munch was maybe if peeps where peckish there are a few pizza chippys ,just that some peeps brought some in ,any way just a thought as you seem to know the peeps in the pub .

excellent idea, i personnaly have been using the site while mrs ninja uses me as her screerer, so a chance to meet the new blood and some of the regulars that i`m always telling her about sounds ace....good idea
We would love an invite to a social, it's good to meet up with like minded people who can be asked questions without the fear of embarasment, i think swinging has a bad name. Almost dirty old men pawing over nubile young women but i see it as more of a social thing. Yes, we may have sex with other people but it's still good to meet new friends and as being relative virgins to the scene we dont know how to go about these things.

I would be very interested in attending a newbie social meeting in the North West. That's if an old fart would be welcome!
Just a bit of a bump fab, there seems to be a decent bit of interest in a NE social so maybe a good idea to try and get something arranged at a point when the site has mellowed slightly and the applecart returns to its (usually) steady path!!

It's going to be at least March time before I have time/patience to organise something ....work and family committments are through the roof at the moment - but, I will start looking at something for the Nottingham/ Derby area asap and update as I go along.
Most interest thus far seems to be 'up norf' so I wont rush into owt - but, in the meantime (wait for it.......) I will accept pm's ( :shock: :shock: ) from newbies who are genuinely interested in coming along or want to chat. Also, any suggestions as to what you'd like to do (ie meal & drinks....a social in a function room....pub then nightclubbing...live music....gig with drinks before & after......whatever)
and as an aside, if anyone now sends me a 'quick shag' pm....well, just dont. :twisted:
